The most friendly and helpful staff I have ever experienced in a hostel! They are very knowledgeable about the Acatenango hike tours and answered all of our questions we had during our stay. The facilities are very clean and they have lockers in the rooms to fit your large backpacks. Would definitely come back here.

The team at the hostel were super accomodating and let me check in early after arriving on night bus. They also stored my luggage and had my room all ready for me when I got back from the volcano hike. Such a great stay and super central to everywhere! Would absolutely stay again.

The staff were absolutely amazing and so extremely helpful, and the location was perfect. Short walk to the centre of town and close to beautiful restaurants and cafes. It was always clean, with kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas being cleaned consistently! Never a mess in sight.

“Wish we had stayed longer!”

We only stayed one night after returning from the Acatenango hike. We arrived before check-in but were able to use their facilities which was perfect as we were very tired! It has a very ‘wholesome’ vibe in everything they do. The kitchen was well resourced and very clean. They had lots of organised activities (free and paid) and also let you know what was going on it the local area. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We wish we had stayed here for our whole visit to Antigua!

I’ve been travelling in south america for 8 months and I don’t think I’ve found friendlier, more helpful staff in any other hostel. They even bought a birthday cake for a guest who was celebrating her’s whilst there! thank you to Tatiana, Wendy and the other receptionist whose name I didn’t catch for making it such a comfortable stay. It’s super clean, and there’s a great kitchen. The staff do your washing up for you! great location, beautiful roof terrace and the highlight was the (free) group excursion to El Pilar with Tatiana. The hostel also seems quite environmentally conscious.

Brilliant hostel in a great location in Antigua. Initially booked for 3 days but ended up extending for a whole week. Friendly + helpful staff. Very clean, good facilities, the staff even wash your dishes if you cook! Nice view of the mountains / volcanoes from the roof + good recommendations for activities.

My stay here was absolutely wonderful! The location is perfect, the hostel is immaculately clean, and the rooftop view is stunning. The hosts are attentive, thoughtful, knowledgeable and genuinely kind, always making sure I felt comfortable and cared for throughout my stay. Everything was so smooth and enjoyable—I honestly have nothing bad to say. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and I’d happily return anytime!

Such a nice spot to stay in Antigua! Nice and close to all the attractions. The rooms were super clean, there were always staff there keeping the place nice and tidy. The hosts were super friendly and helpful with any questions. It was a nice chill vibe as well which was good before tackling the Acatenango hike! Can you sit on the terrace and watch Fuego erupting in the distance which is cool if you're not doing the Acatenango hike.

“Excellent, as usual!”

I've stayed at many hostels in Antigua over the last 2 years and Purpose Hostel is my favourite that I keep coming back to. Really relaxed environment, maybe the best terrace in town, always clean, the staff are lovely, comfy dorm beds, areas to hang out, quiet at night, in a great location and even has a space with desks and chairs where you can work. I always recommend this place to anyone looking for a great value hostel in Antigua

“Amazing staff!”

The staff are amazing. They were always approachable and friendly. They also gave many useful suggestions. I also received a Christmas card from them for staying around the Christmas period! Location is good as it’s not far from the plaza but tucked in a quiet street.

Staff were absolutely amazing. Not just helping when you asked but going the extra mile to do more than you asked for. Lovely building, great roof terrace with superb view.
