Couldn't recommend this place more. The host Poppi is amazing - she was so welcoming and we really enjoyed having a coffee with her and her lovely dog Aris. The view of the sunset from the balcony is unbelievable, and the town is lovely. The apartment itself is quirky with a lovely personality shown through all the decorations. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night, but hopefully we can come back some day!

Such a great place to stay to enjoy a traditional accommodation in a Cretan mountain village. Forget a minimalistic decoration, you'll get a homey vibe instead. Plus, Poppi hosted us with a great smile and hospitality.

“A beautiful and comfortable stay in a mountain village”

I can't recommend Melissa Apartments highly enough - the room is the most wonderful I've stayed in, festooned with traditional handicrafts: embroideries and artwork and artefacts. It's also very comfortable and clean, with a lovely balcony overlooking the town where you can see the sun set behind Mount Ida. And not forgetting Poppi, the landlady and talented weaver in the shop downstairs, who is a delight, offering coffee and sweets, which gives an opportunity to engage with a local in this fascinating village.

The apartment was quaint and old-fashioned, with old family photographs and lots of old items. Walls were mostly bare stone. It is top-floor, with exposed roof beams. The balcony has a wonderful view over the rooftops to the mountains. The approach is up steep steps, so not suitable for disabled people. We especially liked the welcome we received from the owner, who lives in an apartment below. She is very friendly, and showed us her workroom, where she weaves clothing, carpets and lace on a primitive hand loom. There is a good taverna and cafes on the nearby town square. WiFi is excellent.

Lovely, kind and helpful, hardworking and talented caretaker. Great to meet Poppy, the resident weaver and wise, cheerful custodian od the house. I felt lucky to stay at such a unique place. Beautiful view of the mountains. Quiet, cosy, friendly and unforgettable. Good value. Beautiful handmade traditional crafts available. Thank you Poppy x

The appartement was very nice and cosy, and the view was amazing on the mountains for the sunset. The host Poppy was the best, she offered us tea after dinner and we could chat together for a while. She's taking good care of the place and her guests. I definitely recommend this place to traveler who wants to enjoy the mountains and a chill moment out of the crowd

A beautiful, very well restored period stone house with lovely interior, full of Cretan charm and authentic decor. Poppy, the host, is a lovely lady who is very hospitable, warm and generous. Finally, the view is outstanding and you can enjoy glorious sunsets from your balcony!

We stayed for two nights to hike mount Psiloritis. The apartment was authentically decorated, spotless clean and very comfortable. The view from the balcony was amazing. The highlight was the apartment’s owner, the lovely and charming Miss Poppy, who made us feel very welcome. She invited us for coffee and breakfast and let us see a part of Cretan culture that we could not find elsewhere on the island. We would warm heartedly recommend this place! A beautiful apartment, lavishly decorated with Cretan art, traditional decorations, antique tools and utensils and beautiful, patterned carpets and textiles. Poppy, the host, was very helpful, full of good cheer and always ready to assist. The apartment was impeccably clean and the view outside just stunning. Can't recommend it enough!

If you want stay in small, very local style, comfortable hotel, clean room/apartment with the friendliest hostess you can imagine - this is the place. (Thank you Popi for the fresh home made dolmades). Arriving on my precious bicycle I was immediately offered safe storage for my bicycle - very appreciated).
