Overview
Quinta das Mercês is a 16th century country house offering luxury accommodation in front of the sea. It is situated on Mount Brasil, 5 minutes' drive away from the centre of Angra do Heroísmo. This small pension has just 13 luxurious furnished guest rooms. Some of the rooms have their own private garden, some of the rooms feature a partial sea view. Quinta das Mercês is surrounded by 35,000 m² of gardens and woodlands and offers some great walking circuits. Other leisure facilities include a seawater pool, tennis, kayaks, fishing and Turkish bath. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served buffet style each morning. Lunch and dinner is also available on a request basis. Quinta das Mercês is 3 km from the marina and approximately 11 km from the nearest golf course. Lajes Airport is 21 km away.

“A unique characterful experience”
It was a great treat to stay in a place with such history and character. Maria is the consummate host, even going out of her way to drive us to a nearby restaurant when she spotted us waiting at the bus stop. The swimming pool is lovely and the views over the sea unbeatable. Breakfast was generous and served in the pretty courtyard on warmer mornings. We enjoyed the location in between Angra and Sao Mateus. This is a wonderful property for those who appreciate charm and individuality.

“A very nice stay with very nice hosts”
We had a great stay at Quinta das Merces. The property is beautiful, with its ancient house and chapel, and the terrace above the beautiful gardens, the pool and the sea. We have enjoyed its calm, and most of all the warm welcome of the landlady and her commitment to ease our visits and reservations at Angra do Heroismo.

No reaction from Booking.com about refunding when we had to reduce the number of nights from 5 to 3 because of funeral.
