The owner is a very affable guy and in his establishment. There is a lot of locals that come by and play pool and tell tall stories and are a wealth of information about the area.

“Location, staff and and the laid back beach vibe”
The staff led by Michael who gave me a personal refresher scuba diving lesson. He was simply brilliant and inspires confidence. The hotel location is unrivalled on a beautiful beach which is practically deserted. Well worth the 3 hour road journey from Alana beach.

We stayed at Old Castle for a couple of days and had a really great time. The biggest highlight is the location—right on the beach, with the option to enjoy drinks or food at the beach bar while having great conversations with the owner. The diving experience with them was absolutely out of this world: you simply walk into the ocean and within minutes you’re surrounded by beautiful coral, colorful fish, and even turtles. The room itself is nice, clean, and comfortable. There is a slight old smell, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily come back.

The hotel is directly on the beach. It has its own beachfront area along with a beachfront bar and restaurant. The beach is a 10/10. Love this place. Friendly owner from Germany, friendly staff, and fun to chat with some fellow expats. You can book a scooter through the hotel for 400 pesos per day. Wifi is strong and reliable. If taking the bus from Tagbilaran, ask to be dropped off at the Anda Public Market, and the hotel is a short walk down the street.

absolutely cool and helpful owner, staff was very very friendly. the owner fulfills all your wishes: from renting a scooter to a snorkeling/diving trip, or even just a pleasant and relaxed talk at the bar. It was an exceptionally great stay with a truly fantastic location right next at the beach. I would love to come back and thank you for making my stay so unforgettable at the Old Castle.
