“Great homestay!”

The owner and his wife were fantastic, drove us around when we needed and cooked us some incredible meals. The pool was great after a day in the heat.

The pool is lovely here and the staff and dogs are great.... The beds are at least comfortable too.

“Simple stay close to boat safari and national park”

This is a simple clean and comfortable stay (with aircon) in close proximity to the boat safari ticket office and dock. Boat safaris can be difficult to book (and overpriced) but you can walk to the office and book there. (Opens at 6am). We were given breakfast and dinner for reasonable prices (about 3000-3500Rs) although we are used to breakfast being included. There is a bit of a premium to stay in Gal Oya generally so this is a good option if you are looking to do boat safari.

The host and hostess were friendly and welcoming. The new swimming pool was glorious. The food was delicious.

This double room was better in terms of facilities and enclosed bathroom than the family room I had the previous night....

“Lovely property with great hosts”

Had a lovely one night stay here, with large room and comfortable bed, good AC and warm shower. The owners are lovely, making a delicious evening meal and breakfast and gave us great insight about the area. The location is perfect for the lake safari and the grounds do feel like a little oasis!

The family who run this place are amazing The dinner and breakfast exceptional. The pool a lovely treat. The location by a little known national park is brilliant. The family room is huge. And has a lovely outside shower. The cheeky monkey

While the room is modern and clean, the main issue is that it has zero soundproofing. As well, not forthcoming on handing out wifi password, or providing water bottles, etc. You can’t leave the place as you wish, as they not only close the gate, they lock it with a lock (and they don't tell you that). Overall weird feeling at this place.

Everything! If you want somewhere calm in nature this is for you. Beautiful surroundings comfortable beds , very clean large room with a good bathroom . It has everything you need including the bonus of a very nice swimming pool straight outside your room. The boat safari was wonderful with a fantastic wildlife guide to talk about all the different birds and animals . The host at the property also has lots of knowledge about the wildlife and the area. They also provide delicious Sri Lanka breakfast and an evening meal if you want it . Exceptional husband and wife team hosts .

The Oasis was right next to the National Park which made it easy to get to the boat and keep safari. The room was very comfortable, the owners looked after me and the home cooked food was delicious.

I loved my little hut and the pool also there are monkeys around and they have to amazing dogs.

“Lovely, remote spot”

Lots of fun things to do nearby (we did boat safari, hiked the nearby mountain and played cricket with the local kids), and enjoyed the pool. Simple but tidy and clean. Lovely staff and food was delicious.

The host was so kind and friendly! The location is perfect to explore Gal Oya National Park with boat safari! The owner even helped us to find a driver back in the Cyclon wasted mountains to get our tuk tuk back! Thanks a lot for the awesome stay!

There are not so many options especially not cheap around Gal Oya. We stayed one night here and two nights in Gal Oya Lake Club. Considering this, this stay was reasonable. The other reviews seem a little bit harsh. As with all accommodations here - book your boat tour directly with the wildlife office instead off with the hotel. For two people (with four people on the boat in total) we spent 36€. Location wise there is little to do as expected. A sweating hike to the near by mountain was worthwhile and rewarded with a breathtaking view. (go to the highest peak (second peak on the way)). Dinner was proposed by the host - as we wanted to move around a little we went early to Charitha Rest and asked if they can provide dinner instead - the couple was super lovely and the vegetarian dinner (by request) delicious.
