“Perfect escape!”

“Paradise.”

Was so special staying in this unique family home…a former, century old sauna for factory workers that’s been lovingly renovated by the owners Jaakko & Birgit. We really appreciated being met by them to tell us about the property and it’s history and we loved that it is an authentic home that had all of the home comforts (everything you need to cook, even condiments and little touches like soap and cotton for make up removing). Jaakko and Birgit have beautifully decorated the house and you will feel like you are staying inside the pages of a beautiful book. The gardens and access to the river are stunning. We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the river in July. The thing we love most is the exterior sauna (originally for the white collar workers), whereas the main house was for the blue collar workers. We loved chopping the wood and feeding the wood burner to fire the sauna. It’s very peaceful and we even had a deer visit us in the garden. The Apple TV was great for connecting our devices to watch a film and we enjoyed playing the piano in the living room. The house is well located for Helsinki and exploring Finland. There is so much life and love captured in all the art, books, photographs around the house. We felt very happy to be surrounded by the thoughtfulness and kindness of the owners and their values that are reflected in how they have curated the space.

“Lovely historical homelike experience by the river”

We had a great four-night stay with our two teenage children. The best part was absolutely the garden and the river flowing by. We enjoyed the sauna and swimming in the river every night. The house was packed with many interesting items and decor portraying the history of both the house and the owner family. Kitchen was well equipped. Nearby cycling route was just perfect for us and interesting activities of Fiskars, Billnäs and Karjaa are just around the corner. If you are looking for an ultra modern minimalistic hotel type experience, this might not be the place for you, but if you are into history, interesting interiors and nature, booking this house is well recommended!

“Loved it”

Atmospheric historic villa located beautifully. Loved to spend the evenings by the river - sauna, swimming and fireplace. Accommodated 8 people nicely. Excellently equipped house and communication with the host was very good. Lots of things to see nearby, such as Fiskars, Billnäs, Ekenäs, Raseborg castle ruins and Hanko.
