Staff - very efficient and professional but most importantly friendly and willing to chat. Room - Worth paying extra for a deluxe room. Mine was a Bailey room on the ground floor - number 112. It had a very comfortable HUGE bed and superb shower. Very spacious with plenty of storage space both drawer and hanging. A bonus having a Nespresso machine in the room. Food - plentiful and very well cooked and presented. Coffee at breakfast was excellent.

“This is a lovely, historic hotel which seems to have allowed standards to slip.”
It was easy to park at the hotel and we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who told us we'd been upgraded, which was great. The room was in the old, characterful part of the hotel, and it was clean and comfortable. The ensuite was good, with plenty of clean towels, and there was air conditioning which worked.

“Location was perfect & all the staff were lovely”
Average. I had the smashed avocado on toast but only one egg had a yoke and it was only warm when served. Location of the hotel was great.

“Disappointing value”
Shortage of staff at breakfast. Pricing is unrealistic: >£16 for a pint of draught ale and a medium wine. £197 for a small room with queen sized bed! Tge air-conditioning did not work, so fortunately the nice chap at reception gave us another room with a king sized bed. Poor sound insulation means you can join in the lifestyle of those in the room above!
