“Peaceful Mountain Retreat with Spectacular Views”

Nestled high in the mountains and accessed via a scenic 20-minute shuttle ride, Mathis Lodge offers a beautiful eco-lodge experience with breathtaking views across the mountains and down to the ocean. My villa bungalow was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with daily housekeeping throughout my stay. I was fortunate enough to receive an upgrade to a villa with its own private jacuzzi, which made the experience even more special. The bed was large and comfortable, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Breakfast was included each morning and was consistently delicious, with a choice of meals accompanied by complimentary coffee and juice. The peaceful setting made it an ideal escape to unwind, slow down, and spend time with a good book. Although my particular villa was situated at the bottom of a substantial hillside, the staff were always happy to provide complimentary buggy transfers, ensuring access around the property was effortless and convenient. I also enjoyed a lovely spa treatment during my stay. Most of all, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They even assisted with transportation to my next hotel in nearby Amed, which was greatly appreciated. Thank you to the entire Mathis Lodge team for a wonderful and relaxing few days. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful mountain retreat with spectacular views.

The hotel offers truly stunning scenery, with a beautiful pool area and an exceptional bar and restaurant that make the setting feel very special. Our villa was beautifully designed, with an extremely comfortable bed and a peaceful terrace that was perfect for relaxing. The breakfast was great. The staff were also consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel and would absolutely come back. The staff were truly exceptional — caring, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our experience great. They helped us organize transfers and diving, and even went the extra mile by moving our belongings to a better room on the second night so we could enjoy an even more beautiful view. That level of thoughtfulness really stood out. The hotel itself is incredibly stylish and unique. It’s located high up in the mountains, quite isolated, which creates a magical feeling — like you’re staying right in the middle of the jungle. It’s peaceful, atmothferic, and very special. We loved the overall vibe and design.

It could have been a lovely experience, but unfortunately the photos don’t reflect reality at all. There is a new development being built next door, which completely ruins the view. It would have been better if this hadn’t been hidden, so you knew what to expect.

A hotel with stunning views and beautiful, spacious lodges. The location really depends on what you’re looking for — tucked away in the mountains, it’s perfect for a romantic getaway, but not ideal if you’re planning to party. I really loved the overall style of the hotel.

Beautiful resort with gorgeous view onto the valley. We loved the lodge, beautifully decorated and comfortable bed. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Food in the restaurant is excellent and the breakfast is amazing! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, however feels very formal. We felt that we had to dress up and feel like going out when dining there so we only had our first and last meal there and ate in town for the rest of the time. We also did not like the music in the restaurant. There was Balinese music played during breakfast, but for the rest of the day there was Western music so we felt like we were in a restaurant in London where we normally live - this is not what we came to Bali for! We had our breakfast delivered to the room and ate on the porch, which was wonderful as the lodge has comfortable sofa and beautiful view. The resort is located on top of a steep hill, however provides free shuttle service, which was an adventure!

The room was super nice in a beautiful area. Staff was really great. The ride to the hotel was an adventure on itself. Really recommend it.

The property is very nice situated for a great view. But the view is blocked by uncut trees and plants.

The setting was really unique and the staff were lovely.. It was great to be far from the main.tourisr area of Amed. The room was really comfortable and the opportunity to order room service was really convenient.
