Overview
Set in a grand Victorian mansion, YHA Langdale is a National Trust property with leafy grounds, cosy log fires and a restaurant. The Lake District hostel is situated between Elterwater and Grasmere. The bright and airy rooms feature modern bunk beds, and some have a private bathroom. The YHA also features a TV lounge and games room, and the balcony terrace has scenic views of Windermere. Guests can enjoy hearty evening meals and snacks in the restaurant, and there is also a barbecue area. YHA Langdale features a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area for self-catering guests. Centrally located for exploring the dramatic Langdale Pikes, this YHA is a 10-minute drive from Ambleside. There is plenty of free on-site parking, and Windermere is a 15-minute drive away.

Such a beautiful house, with amazing grounds and hikes starting directly on the doorstep! The staff was very helpful and friendly and our visit was fantastic. We also enjoyed the pizza that was available for the dinner. We met the friendly peacock as well - what a bonus! I'd love to come back and explore more!

Having a drying room outside of the hotel, down some stone steps is pretty inconvenient. My bedding in the stunk of stale BO, and most of the doors in the building could do with a drop of WD40.

Oh my days. It was the first hostel I have stayed in before with my son. And it was an absolutely wonderful and magical experience, and full of the true British spirit with all different ethnicities. The staff are absolutely spectacular and my cup of tea indeed, so friendly you feel so safe and secure with them, and their kindness and willingness to help you enjoy your experience, is above and beyond the line of duty. The food was exceptional and the chef was absolutely amazing, with the best smile I have seen in a long time. The breakfast was equally amazing too in the morning. Highly recommend this magical place to anyone who would like to experience something new.
