“Very enjoyable”

The hosts were friendly and very helpful with information about the area. The room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. There were nice touches with the flapjacks and port. Breakfast was very good. The guest house is very central to the village. We were given a parking pass which was great for use in Ambleside and around other villages in the Lake District. We had a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to return to The Waterwheel.

Room was beautiful with lots of lovely touches, like a make up flannel in the bathroom and a well stocked selection of tea, coffe, hot chocolate, buscuits and flapjacks. Very comfy bed and lots of space to move around. Plus, during the heatwave, the fan pre running before we got there was much appreciated. The couple running the place are really friendly and happy to talk and answer questions and the included breakfast was really lovely too. Took their business card so, when we go again, we can book directly with them.

“Hidden gem in Ambleside”

Perfect B&B in a beautiful location! A very intimate and welcoming establishment and Debbie & Paul are wonderful! Very knowledgeable about the area. It’s clear that they love their job and the area they live in! We came to Ambleside for our wedding anniversary and the extra little finishing touches made it perfect.

My wife and I spent two nights and had a most pleasant experience. Debbie and Paul were the best hosts and made us feel at home. The room was lovely, with a very nice bathroom and breakfast was delicious!

Such a hidden gem in Ambleside! The place is very central yet away from the busy streets. Debbie and Paul are such fantastic hosts and maintain the place so very well. Everything was well thought of and immaculate.

Excellent hospitality and a willingness to make our stay perfect. So thought full and friendly I highly recommend you stay here if Ambleside is your destination. Lovely little touches like home made flapjack, free parking pass and port to end your day. The breakfast choices were perfect, with locally sourced produce and dietary requirements met with out hesitation. We will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Exceptional B&B full of character and charm in the most perfect location, it is spotlessly clean and offers some wonderful touches like homemade tiffin and a decanter of port for a nightcap. Quality bed linen, quality towels…there is nothing that Debbie and Paul haven’t thought of! Debbie and Paul are both lovely, very warm and welcoming and informative about the local area. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, the full Cumbrian breakfast is a must, locally sourced sausage and bacon, perfect start to the day. Thank you so much for having us and we hope to see you again soon.

Great location as central for parking, restaurants, bars and walking. Lovely knowledgeable and friendly owners who supplied a lovely breakfast and flapjack.

Waterwheel Guesthouse is located in one of the most magical places in Ambleside! Our window faced the old mill above the beck. The town and amenities are all 5 minutes walk away and we could walk out of the door and onto the hills with walks that the lovely hosts Paul and Debbie provided. We had a nightmare getting to the Lakes (car breakdown and a night in Travelodge!) and Paul and Debbie were both very flexible and generous when we got there. Breakfast was also excellent! I'm sure we'll be back at some point.

The breakfast was great with local products. There are loads of little touches and details that can often go unnoticed and the hospitality was phenomenal.

Perfect location, 1 minute from everything in ambleside

The cooked breakfast was spot on. The home made flapjacks etc. provided in the room were much appreciated. The car parking permit was a great addition. Debbie and Paul were very friendly hosts.

Location was so convenient. The town centre was 30 metres away, but we were away from any hustle and bustle, behind the main thoroughfare.

The property is beautiful, everything is so clean and tidy and has such a cozy feeling. The attention to detail in the room was wonderful, home made flapjack, biscuits and bottles of water. Debbie and Paul were so welcoming, friendly and attentive. The breakfast was really good, even better that everything was locally sourced. The toiletries in the room were wonderful, again from a local company, felt very luxurious. We had such an amazing stay and literally cannot fault a single thing. Thank you for having us and we hope that we'll be able to stay again in the future!
