Second time staying at Violet Cottage. The property is immaculately clean, well maintained and everything needed for a stay is here. Love the log burner, the decor, the comfy beds, the neat but well equipped kitchen.

“Damaged equipment and no reply”

I feel very sorry for the owner of this property because the management company (Sykes Cottages) are horrific. I booked this property for a week in July. Due to a damaged bath (which wasn’t spotted by cleaner or maintenance) the property leaked through the ceiling, damaging my computer equipment on the floor below. We then couldn’t use the bath in case it happened again. I had to leave and stay with family over an hour away. Getting hold of Sykes Cottages is very difficult - as many of their reviews say. On the second day of calling the emergency number didn’t reply at all (they say they will call within 20 minutes). I have been waiting two weeks for a reply. They have requested photos several times which I sent three times to separate email addresses. I requested a refund and to repair my damaged equipment. No reply.

Fabulous well equipped cottage in excellent location. Lovely decor, comfy beds and sofa. Beautifully presented with woodburner which we enjoyed using. Kitchen very well equipped. Bath also nice too.

The property was super cute in a good location in Ambleside. We loved the beds; they were so comfy. The kitchen had everything you would possibly need to cook during your stay. We loved the wee fireplace and enjoyed staying here. The bathroom was nice and clean with good water pressure.

Just a five minute walk from the centre of Ambleside, up a short hill is Violet cottage. A quintessential and characterful period cottage. Parking for one small car outside. Clean, comfy and recently refurbished. Well equipped kitchen. A home from home. A cosy and homely retreat with all amenities literally just a stones throw down the lane. In a sunny spot with a little bench in the modest front garden to sit and enjoy a brew or vino in the sunshine. There is also a small rear courtyard garden to sit and enjoy the birdsong. I would recommend the property. It is a very comfortable stay for a couple.
