Overview
Rothay House is a guest house, set just off the main road and a 5-minute walk from Ambleside town centre. Only 1 mile from Lake Windermere, it serves local produce and homemade jams and marmalades for breakfast. Just 10 minutes' drive from Windermere and the World of Beatrix Potter, this guest accommodation offers rooms with a private bathroom. The cosy individually decorated rooms offer a TV with a DVD player, a hairdryer, a selection of Pure Lakes toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is served in the traditional dining room, which overlooks Rothay House's garden from the first floor. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout. Scenic walks can be enjoyed in the countryside surronding Rothay House. Ambleside town centre, with its shops, bars and restaurants can be reached after a 5-minute walk. “Excellent little b&b”
We were returning guests to Rothay House and our stay did not disappoint. Debbie and Darren are great hosts, friendly, eager to please and have a good knowledge of the area. They provide an excellent breakfast with options to suit everyone. The rooms are cosy and comfortable and the location of the b&b is super convenient with the added bonus of car parking on site. Would definitely recommend staying here.

“Overall good value for money, excellent food and location.”
Hosts were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent with homemade muesli and granola, as well as fresh fruit and wide range of cereals. Choice of cooked breakfast and as much toast as you like. The room , though a bit small, had everything you needed,was cleaned daily and tea/coffee/water/biscuits refilled daily. Didn't need to use the car as so well located for town and hill walking. Would definitely stay here again.

“Great value, perfect location.”
Great location. Short walk to buses and shops and easy access to good walks. Parking was a big plus. Owners were helpful and friendly. Breakfast (8.15 to 9.30) was beautifully cooked with plentiful good coffee. In room drinks were good. Excellent value for money.

Location was excellent, the room was good for b and b accommodation,the breakfast was very good with an excellent choice. Ideal car park, 5 mins walk into the centre of Ambleside and quiet area with little noise, if any.
