This property is exquisite and the host, Paul, delightful and ever so helpful, without being intrusive. He also cooks the most delicious breakfasts. You really must try his porridge! It is perfectly located for walking. Ambleside is just a short walk along the river. We loved walking to the Badger Bar pub for dinner each evening. Delicious meals. The cleanliness and views from our 4 Poster Bed bedroom, were unbeatable. We loved our 4 night stay here.

Everything!! Beautiful home which was exceptionally clean with lots of little details thought of. It was lovely to park the car up and just walk for a couple of days. The owner was so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was superb!

Everything. One of my best stays ever via Booking.com 1) Location is perfect, tucked away in Ambleside / Rydal countryside but still 20-min walk (5-min drive) away from both villages. Location is strategic to visit the Lake District: Most locations are less than 30-min drive away. 2) Property is a beautiful grade 2 listed building with very cute garden and in immaculate conditions. Interior designs are very stylish and very British. 3) Room was super spacious and bed was comfortable. 4) Breakfast was delicious and made with organic/local products. 5) Parking available on site. In the afternoon, hosts organise a lovely ice-cream stand just outside the property. 6) Hosts were impeccable in all aspects: Check-in, check-out, breakfast, recommendations, manners.

The hotel is a fabulous, set in an amazing location. The rooms are large, quiet and spotless. Breakfast is chosen off a menu and served directly to your table, hot and freshly prepared. The gardens are stunning with table and chairs. Due to there only being 3 rooms you get an excellent and personal service.

A very warm welcome from Paul, very hospitable throughout our stay. Room was large and comfortable, a perfect location...deep in the countryside but only 10 minutes walk along an almost car free country road to Ambleside. 20 minute moderate climb from the garden and I was on top of Loughrigg fell with fantastic views.

Our experience at Foghyll, although short, was memorable. From the cheery,friendly greeting from Paul to leaving we couldn’t fault it. Beautiful room spotless and airy with lovely view of the gardens. One of the best breakfasts with attention to detail (warmed my bowl for my generous porridge portion) delicious hot English breakfast. Highly recommend
