Overview
Set close to Lake Windermere, just a 5-minute walk from Long Wood Bay Watersports Centre and a 2-minute drive from Ambleside, Briery Wood Hotel is surrounded by peaceful fields and woodland. The traditional property has its own restaurant looking out onto landscaped gardens. Each bedroom at Briery Wood Hotel comes with an en suite bathroom and complimentary toiletries. The décor mixes modern and traditional, some with heated towel rails and large sash windows, while all rooms come with a flat-screen TV. Free Wi-Fi is available in the public areas, the Holbeck Bar offers fine wines and whiskies, and tea or coffee can be served by the fire in the lounge area. Food at Briery Wood is sourced from local farmers, fishermen and butchers, and freshly cooked breakfasts are served each morning. The creative menu includes Herdwick lamb, local Cumbrian cheeses and fresh trout. Al fresco dining on the hotel’s terrace can even be arranged, weather permitting. The spectacular Langdales are within 10 minutes’ drive, and mountain biking can be enjoyed from the doorstep.

“Adequate but not sure we would stay there again.”
Breakfast disappointing. Bacon tough and cold but poached egg excellent . Toast brought out with the tea so soft and cold by the time eaten All the staff were very helpful .

Very beautiful grounds. Had a brilliant groundfloor garden room with door opening onto patio and seating, super views - bedroom was delightful, very good bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Exceptional stay - would recommend.

A well presented hotel, very clean. We booked 6 rooms for a walking group. The garden rooms were appreciated. Showers excellent. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Relaxed and peaceful location.

The bedroom view of the highland cows gave us the straight feeling of being in the Lakes, the hotel staff was very friendly. Good breakfast, locally sourced products. Doggy welcome bag on arrival was a very thoughful gift.
