“Amazing hosts and beautiful villa on the lake”

We liked everything, especially the hosts. They were very attentive to our needs and always went the extra mile to make us happy. On top of that, the whole villa was very spacious and clean with an amazing view from the beautiful balcony on the lake. They even came along and drove us to the madu river safari. The highlight was a traditional Sri Lankan dish they cooked for us. Loved it! If you're looking for a peaceful place away from busy streets, this is the perfect location. Thank you again ❣️

“Amazing stay lake to a lagoon”

We had a perfect stay here, the owners were so so friendly and helpful. It was a joy staying here and we felt so welcomed. The room was amazing, one of the nicest we've had in Sri Lanka, and the lake just outside was so fun to explore with the free kayak they provided. We saw many birds, jellyfish, monkeys and bats around the lake. It was a very peaceful place and many shops and restaurants were close by. There's also a beach a short drive away called hidden beach on Google maps which is perfect. It's calm and shallow for swimming and very quiet. There's a restaurant on the beach with nice food, drinks and good prices. Overall, this was a lovely stay and we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly place to stay next to a peaceful lake with good access to shops and beaches. The couple even cooked us a lovely meal and showed us how to prepare it. They were so so friendly and kind and we feel so lucky to have had this stay.

Lake Life Villa is a lovely homestay in Ambalangoda, next to the Madampe lake. It was our first place to stay in Sri Lanka. Our hosts, Kantha and Dulani were very kind. They were keeping contact with us during our trip, provided neccessary information about shops, restaurants and what to see. Our room was clean and light, equipped with A/C and a lake view from the balcony. We could use their kayak for free and they also have two bicykles to use. Dulani made diner and breakfast for us 3 times so we could try authentic local food. It was delicious, a "have to try".

“Lovely hosts, beautiful location and great value accommodation”

Beautiful setting by the lake. Very clean spacious accommodation with several balconies. Wonderful hosts who provided a free kayak, let us use washing machine and shared their breakfast with us so we could sample rice milk. Just over 200 in tuk tuk to either train /bus station or the lovely beaches. Hosts even provide a list for you of local attractions, places to eat, beaches etc with map links. Very helpful.

Very nice couple! They can advice you about things to do in the area. Beautiful house and room with big balcony and view on the lake. Good location to reach main attractions in the area.

“Lush lagoon villa with the warmest hosts”

Our time staying at the magical Lake Life Villa was one we will always remember and we couldn't recommend it enough! Both the property and the hosts were truly wonderful! The beautiful, lush villa lies straight out to the lagoon and has a large balcony with a gorgeous view across the water - a perfect spot to watch the sunset and listen to the rustling leaves. You have access to the whole upper floor, with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is spacious with a very comfortable bed. The villa is just a short walk away from the main road, amenities, bus, train station, and beaches. Dulani and Kantha were the most warm and hospitable hosts we have experienced and we truly felt they treated us like family. We were treated to coconuts from the garden every morning, they let us use their kayak to go boating on the lagoon, and loaned us bikes to go explore the surrounding area. The biggest highlight of our stay was the traditional Sri Lankan meal that Kantha and Dulani made for us on our final night! If you are in the area you must stay at Lake Life Villa!

The days here were just wonderful. This quiet place is 5 minutes away from the centre or the beach located directly beside the lake. Everything was just perfect, the welcoming, the rooms are very big, comfortable bed and very clean bath. You can live in the whole 1 floor with kitchen and terrace and also there is a washing machine for dirty clothes. I have never had such a nice experience with owners like that, they are so welcoming and helpful. they only want the best for you. Thank you for this time

“Amazing hospitality and beautifull location”

I normally don't leave reviews but this villa is an absolute gem and deserves a visit. It served as the perfect place for me to relax after a series of busy days on the road. From the moment I arrived, I was enchanted by the stunning location and accommodation that felt like a luxurous hotel. The warmth and hospitality of the owners truly made my stay exceptional. They picked me up from the station and greeted me with a fresh coconut upon arrival. They offered me the use of their bike for exploring and gave tips on what to do and what to eat. When I expressed interest in going on a boat safari across the lake, they arranged it for me and even made sure the boat picked me up right from their backgarden! Additionally, they offered me breakfast and made me an authentic Sri Lankan dish for lunch, which was one of the better food I had here. In essence, the couple shows warmth and hospitality, which together with the stunning location and accomodation, made me feel at ease and well-cared for. Definetly worth visiting for a few days when traveling through this area.

A fantastic place to spend your vacation in southwest Sri Lanka! The home is isolated from all of the noise of the big city. It is a very beautiful home with great hosts.

“10/10 would come again.”

This is the ideal place to stay for those who want to be detached from the pack and instead submerge themselves deeper in the culture or simply just take some time to themselves to legitimately relax. The hosts of this space went above and beyond to make it as seamless as possible. A wonderful couple who are on hand for anything needed. I stayed a week, which flew by and upon leaving I felt a genuine sense of sadness. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have the feeling of being self catered (in all aspects) Immaculately clean.
