“Incredible location with room overlooking the ocean, perfect room and facilities!”

The room was perfect and had everything that we needed! The view overlooking the ocean was gorgeous and it was nice to get to hang out on the balcony in the morning. The hosts are super nice and welcoming. The bathrooms are shared but it was kept nice and clean every day. You can request a kettle for tea and coffee if you need to. Can't wait to come back to Amami and stay again!

“Beautiful, clean, and comfortable stay befitting of Amami”

We loved staying at Halemakana! The property is right by the ocean, and nicely positioned so you can sit on the balcony and look out at sea. It is a short 15 minute drive from the airport, and parking is available. Additionally there are many nearby beaches for swimming/snorkeling, and our hosts kindly recommended good restaurants and sites for birding. The rooms were very clean, and the futons were thick and very comfortable. Likewise, the shared bathrooms were kept clean and we were given fresh towels daily. It's also possible to request a kettle in your room to make tea/coffee. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, and were accommodating even though I can only speak a little Japanese. Check-in was easy, and they were accommodating when we took a night tour and had to return to Halemakana late. I highly recommend staying here: it's a good base to explore Amami from, and a very relaxing place to stay. We spent lots of time on the balcony just watching the sea and the birds! This is a wonderful place, and I hope to stay here if I visit Amami again!

“Absolutly stunning”

Wonderful place in such a great environment. The hosts are so nice and welcoming. The decoration is great. The sea view is stunning. You even have a room with a micro wave when you can snack if need be. Several shops around and great places to eat. It is close to a bus stop too and in 30 min you are in Naze the capital. There is a place closeby where you can have a massage too. We absolutly loved it. Thank you so much.

“Seaside heaven!”

A comfortable and well appointed guest room in a small guesthouse at the beach, a few metres from Heart Rock. Wonderful sea views. Good swimming and snorkelling. Catch the local airport bus to get here from airport or ferry. Some distance to grocery stores, so be prepared if you do not have your own transport. Friendly and welcoming owners.

Friendly and super helpful staff, lots of free gifts like beer, water and daily coffee, daily clean towels, extremely clean, good smell throughout the place, beautiful ocean view and free parking.

Sea view! The owners were very nice and helpful, gave us a some maps and some hand drawn map to explain the area. We found a beer and a coke in our fridge as a welcome gesture!

Location is fantastic. 😎 The ocean is literally across the street & great for swimming /snorkeling. Wonderful ocean view from the balcony. Highly recommend drinks 🍹 on the balcony watching the moon rise over the ocean, or enjoying a coffee & ocean breeze to start your day. ☕️ Rooms are spartan, but clean. ‘Elua has a small 2seat sofa & end table. Small refrigerator with Welcome beer & water. You can use a hot pot water boiler in room for coffee or tea. Toilets, sink & shower are shared, well maintained & kept clean. Although there were other guests, you’d not notice…very quiet. I only interacted with the owners at checkin. They were friendly & took the time to show me the rooms & facilities. The air conditioning kept the room cool. Personally I don’t like sleeping with air conditioning. You can borrow a circular fan & at night you could open the balcony window & take advantage of the ocean breeze to cool the room.🧊 Although no meal service is provided there is complimentary tea & coffee & Welcome Drinks 🤩, there are a number of good restaurants & cafes nearby as well as small convenience store. Highly Recommended. I will stay here again.

“Quiet, clean, peaceful space overlooking beach & sea ~ with a touch of Hawaii”

We loved the view of the sea, the proximity to the vast quiet beach, as well as bus and town, the peaceful space, and kind accommodation of Shinji-san & Kaoru-san. They went above and beyond as hosts, keeping our things, before and after our stay as needed, providing us with extras for the room, and understanding when we made some special requests. We are truly grateful for our stay, and would gladly go back! ♡
