This was one of the most comfortable places I've stayed. The hotel owners are very interesting people. They're very friendly, have delicious breakfasts, and have a beautiful view of the river. I highly recommend taking advantage of the morning safari. We saw flying foxes up close, fed rare black monkeys, encountered several crocodiles and large monitor lizards, saw an eagle up close, and much more. There's a delicious and inexpensive cafe nearby for dinner. The beach is a 15-minute walk away, or you can take a tuk-tuk for 200 rupees, which arrives quickly. The owner is learning Russian. It was very interesting to see him practice, as Sinhalese is completely different from Russian. He's an intelligent and pleasant man with a good command of English, who enjoys conversation, but is also very polite and well-mannered. I'll only have the best memories of this hotel.

“Tranquil and friendly”

Viraj is a great host who arranges Tuk Tuk rides with a lovely friend to the area between sea and river which is quiet and has small shrines and temples. Pier 88 is the next door property with delicious food (even fish and chips). The small guest house has a garden on the river edge and the breakfast is delicious. They have a young very friendly dog which is harmless but is excited to make friends but Viraj will the dog away if you are nervous about dogs. I would recommend for the peace and quiet…. Very relaxing

Very central in Aluthgama. Simple room with comfy bed , good aircon, quiet. Beautiful garden on the riverside. Lovely hosts. Excellent breakfasts. Next door to Pier88 (fab restaurant/bar/coffee shop/takeaway/supermarket). Easy walk to Bentota Beach.

This is a lovely home stay right in the centre of Aluthgama. The hosts are so kind and welcoming. You have breakfast in the garden looking out on the river. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable, again looking out to the river. Lovely breakfast provided of fruit, eggs and bread. Location is very handy for the town centre, railway station and the coast is close by as well.

Villa River View is in an excellent location and gorgeous view of the river which makes it a peaceful retreat . The home is very welcoming and kept in pristine condition by Viraj and his lovely family. I would highly recommend staying at Villa River View as I had great advice on the local area and what to see in this beautiful part of Sri Lanka which I would have not found out as a solo traveller .

beautiful views comfortable accommodation we have never stayed with more lovely hosts! Viraj and Monika are exceptional and made us feel so so welcome. They also helped us plan trips locally and introduced us to new Sri Lankan foods. I cannot recommend staying at Villa river view enough!

Very nice hotel with a great location on the water. Rooms are very nice and spacious. The room has air conditioning and a balcony. The owners are very nice and helpful. We will be very happy to come back.

Everything, gorgeous place, Viraj and his family are so nice. Breakfast was amazing, massive fruit platter, eggs anyway you want and toast. It's beautiful sitting at the bottom of the garden watching life on the Ganga and will arrange any trips you want. Cheers Viraj.
