“A fantatsic bit of history.”
I've stayed here before. If you want atmosphere and a bit of old-time charm, or even faded gradeur then this is the place for you! Each room has its own character, and the bar is well stocked, and the conversation is easy. If, however, you want a coffee in the evening (after the coffee shop has closed) or some hot water for tea, then you are out of luck! For travellers from cities, it is easy to forget that in a place like Alturas, EVERYTHING has shut down by 8 pm, so make sure you have an early dinner. This is a great staging post for adventures off into the wilds.

“Freaky abandoned place”
There was hot water. The towels didn't smell like bleach or fabric softener.

The hotel has a lot of character and the room was well furnished and attractive. The location is very good, right in downtown Alturas.
