The location is set amongst forest and we felt as if we were staying in the jungle despite being only a few kms from town. The home was well equipped and super comfortable with a variety of chill spaces. Our host was so helpful and welcoming. She helped us organise a birthday cake which was perfect! We loved our stay and wish it could have been longer.

Recanto Shanti is the most quaint holiday house in the middle of the tropical forest! I was looking for an escape into nature and I definitely got it. Not only is the house itself spacious, well-kept, and well-designed, but it's surrounded by lush trees and plants that are frequented by squirrel monkeys (who you can feed bananas!), hummingbirds and butterflies. I was worried I might be at the mercy of creepy crawlies and mosquitos here, as it's more refreshing to keep windows open during the night and I've had this problem in the past in Brazil, but I saw little to none during my stay and it was bliss! Of course it's not a sterile hotel, but this is part of the fun and charm. :) The location is a bit further from the main town center but it honestly never was a problem for us as it was a very short taxi journey away and there are many taxis available at your disposal in the center. Janicke is also the most attentive and kind host, available to help at any moment you may need. We also got to meet her adorable rescue dogs who I fell in love with! Don't hesitate to book this stay if you're considering it! We spent 6 nights here and could've stayed even longer. Thanks Janicke! ❤️

The house was such a surprise for us: a dream in the forest. It felt like leaving in the middle of nature but with all the comfort that you need. The house was clean and the kitchen is fully equipped. Janicke is an amazing host, always available and such a nice person. We really enjoyed our time at recanto Shanti and we never wanted to leave the house in the morning :) It might be a little far from the the city center but we really enjoyed the walk and Janicke can provide you taxi drivers that easily take you everywhere I would definitely come back

This is a lovely place. A real sanctuary in the forest. Janicke is a fabulous host. She made us waffles, gave us recommendations for guides and drivers, did our laundry and was attentive and helpful. Do not be concerned that this is a little way from the main town. This is what makes it such a perfect location. You will not be isolated as drivers will come to you and Janicke will always help you out. A complete slice of paradise.
