“Fantastic stay at Hotel San Juan Ometepe”

Stayed here for three nights during our honeymoon. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with beautiful views across the lake. Howler monkeys in the trees above the cabin, and herons fishing on the water each morning. Breakfast was à la carte, with lots of options (highly recommend the French toast!). We also ate at the restaurant twice for dinner during our stay and the pasta, salads and tacos were all delicious. Staff are lovely, provided an excellent explanation/ map of the island, and helped us organise ATV rental, our Conception hike, and transfers to/ from the ferry. Overall a fantastic stay, in a beautiful setting, and would highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at San Juan in Ometepe. We travelled with our 2 young boys, 1.5 & 4, and they both loved the little play area, the monkeys in the trees, the birds and butterflies in the lush garden and running on the beach. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant food was delicious with good variety, we had all our meals here for 2 days. The room was spacious and the beds were comfy. I would recommend staying with young children.

The hotel is a former - still working - acienda and is about 2 km away from main road, accessible via a dirt road. The place is nice in front of the lake but facing East.

The lake view cabins were literally on the lake beach. It was a quiet property with a sunrise view, great food, and an amazing staff.

“Tropical Paradise”

The grounds of the hotel were stunning, and the staff were all absolutely wonderful. We truly felt in paradise. The views from the cabins on the beach are priceless.

“Wonderful lakeside location”

There are several types of rooms here, we had a lakefront cabin. The view over the lake is excellent and you have a very private space. All you can hear are waves birds and howler monkeys. The cabin was very comfortable, very good bed and good bathroom and shower. The fridge was welcome too. Breakfast in the open air restaurant was very good. We had one very good evening meal there, a second one was poor. Maybe they have different chefs. You really need your own transport, we had an ATV which was good for the forest track to the hotel. One of the best things is just walking around the grounds watching birds and monkeys.

Bungalow location next to the water was amazing. Air conditioner and mosquito net where available. We had a great stay at the place.

“Wonderful location and helpful staff”

Beautiful location on the lake and the view from the lakefront cabin was amazing. Comfortable and clean- appreciated the coffee maker and fridge in the room. Food and drinks at the restaurant excellent and the staff helpful and friendly.

“Lovely stay in a scenic location”

We loved the lakeside cabin - the views were incredible and the staff were great! The cabin was spacious and well equipped. We loved that there was a coffee machine too! The staff were great.

“Stunning”

This hotel was fabulous. We stayed twice and had two rooms, so we actually saw 4 separate rooms. All of them were really high standard. I don’t think the photographs do this hotel justice. It is stunning. The location and a really central and the staff are lovely. I would love to come back and of course it was exceptional value for money

Nice location right on the lake, the property has beautiful gardens. We were in a lake front cabana but it was very tired with old furnishings.

The lakefront cabins are costly but so worth the price. Sitting on the deck each morning to watch the sunrise and at night to listen to the howler monkeys in the trees and watch the flock of egrets fly over. A magical place and perfect if you yearn for tranquility and excellent service.

Location is great, far from the road and just along the lake. We even had a room on the edge onf the property so we saw one monkey, nice birds,...Nice restaurant making their own pesto with fresh basilic. Nice people, just wonderfull

The food and the service was really good.

What I loved about the hotel was both the property itself and its location. While it’s slightly remote, that only adds to its charm. You’re surrounded by nature, with the soothing sounds of animals in the morning and evening. The beachfront bungalows are a dream—you fall asleep to the calming sound of the waves. Even the food is excellent, especially the ceviche, which is an absolute must-try for lunch or dinner!
