Located a 30-minute drive from Alta city centre, between the arctic tundra and the arctic sea you will find Gargia Lodge, surrounded by nature. All rooms have wooden interiors and private bathroom with shower. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. In the main house you will find a shared lounge with books, board games and puzzles. There is a fully licensed bar, a small souvenir shop and an in-house restaurant. Guests can enjoy a relaxing moment in the sauna for a fee. Gargia Lodge offers activities such as snowmobiling, snowshoe hiking and Northern Light tours during winter. During summer, activities such as hiking tour to the nearby waterfall Orrvos and to the Sautso Canyon can be arranged.

“A calm place away from the city.”
Authentic accommodation in the mountains. We had a comfortable cabin and great breakfast. The (additional) dinner option was a set of excellent local dishes. We also loved the hike to a frozen waterfall and the amazing aurora.

“Great place, we come back again”
The accommodation is located near Alta, surrounded by nature, yet very easy to reach. We received a very warm and polite welcome and were given a great room. We only stayed for one night, but the location is perfect – you step outside the door and are directly in nature, with the chance to see the northern lights if they appear. During the night, we had a car breakdown, and the hosts kindly sent someone to help us. We are truly very grateful for that – it was extremely friendly and supportive. The breakfast was also very enjoyable.

We stayed 4 nights at Gargia Lodge, and everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The lodge is incredibly calm and quiet, surrounded by breathtaking nature that makes you feel completely disconnected from the outside world. It is, without a doubt, one of the best places near Alta to observe the Northern Lights! no light pollution, just pure Arctic magic above you. What truly made our stay unforgettable, though, was the staff. Everyone was exceptionally welcoming, warm, and genuinely hospitable. You immediately feel at home, and their kindness adds something very special to the entire experience. If you are looking for peace, beauty, authentic Arctic nature, and an incredible aurora experience, Gargia Lodge is a perfect choice. We would return without hesitation.

“Very nice journey”
The location of the lodge is perfect for being in the nature and observe Northern lights. The main lodge is very cosy and pleasant for taking breakfast and dinner or just to take a hot drink.

“Risk of identity theft”
You can check in online but they ask passport nr, signature, credit card details including CVC. Also at physical checkin they require passport and credit card although the stay has been payed in advance. I consider this a security risk. They claim it is for them to claim money in case there is damage to the room. Never had anything like this before.

“Amazing find well worth the detour a wonderful nights sleep”
A wonderful night here on way to Nordkapp. Its a bit off the beaten track but well worth it best sleep ever although could use a blackout as still light in summer months even at midnight. Evening meal was wonderful and breakfast was amazing the staff were all so friendly and helpful. Room was stunning

If you are looking for accommodation where you can see the northern lights from the terrace then this is the best. Well equipped houses, delicious food and the best staff. 30 minutes from the city of Alta.

“A wonderful place for to stay!”
The minute we arrived ( at 11pm) we were greeted by the most magnificent display of northern lights! The cabin was super warm, with loads of space. In the morning, the amazing staff (Raul) were so helpful and made a really lovely breakfast.
