Location and building

Our stay at the hotel was truly amazing. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had stepped back in time into a charming old era setting. The architecture, interiors, and overall ambiance gave a classic, vintage feel that made the experience very special.

Great hotel with friendly staff

“Beautiful ex colonial property by the beach”

Gorgeous ex colonial house, super well preserved & the furniture is incredible - the four poster beds are massive! The pool is lovely with sunbeds & towels provided. Staff are really helpful & friendly & restaurant is good for lunch & drinks around the pool. Location is next to the beach & has lots of little cafes. You can walk in 40min to finishing point for the backwaters & to see the town centre.

“Very, misleading and hugely overly positive description and images.”

The first thing to say is that all the staff were absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfasts were plentiful and always included fresh fruit and juice, being based on traditional Keralan staple dishes. The hotel had a laid back, friendly atmosphere and could at times be quite relaxing. The hotel bar/restaurant offers some great traditional food, although choice can be a little limited. Bar/restaurant waiting staff were excellent, friendly, attentive and helpful, but incredibly busy (overworked?) and often short staffed. Although a small hotel, it does serve alcohol making the bar /restaurant attractive to non-residents, given alcohol is not widely available in Kerala. This added to pressure on bar/restaurant staff. Security was good, ensuring non-residents left by 10pm and gates closed. Unfortunately, that's about it for positives.

Very nice pool. Wonderful colonial era bungalow with dark wood ambience. Excellent restaurant/bar with highly professional waiters. Cold beer. Huge menu. Helpful reception. Opposite beach.

“Lovely staff and relaxing stay”

The pool was so peaceful, quiet and clean. With a service bell if you wanted a drink or food. Restaurant was amazing food and good food. Staff work hard and always smiling, especially rajeev.....a true asset to the place!

Such great value for money ! To get a reasonably decent pool, on site restaurant with quick service and an exceptional breakfast for this price was astounding. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful - our room was changed on request to a nicer one without any fuss.

Great staff, all very happy to help. Availability of purified water. Good price. Bar is quite unique in this area and was lively in a very friendly way each evening. Comfy, clean bed and pillows and room nicely made up every day. Quirky!

Place is very clean, staffs are very welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous staff amazing food,help and care over questions about a wedding we had to go to was superb. The massage spa was excellent and great value for money. Lovely pool and great location by beach and so easy to get tuk tuk anywhere

“Great short stay in a beautiful colonial hotel”

Great for 1 or 2 nights. Hotel was fabulous. 15 mins ride to houseboat. Beach area was great with a fun fair. Restaurant was good.

No proper parking; vehicles were parked on the roadside. No luggage assistance, no welcome staff. Poor maintenance and dirty floors. Severe mosquito problem — couldn’t sleep at all.

The building was beautiful, renivated in keeping with the original style which made an impact. The rooms were really spacious and the pool area was wonderful. Staff were lovely and welcoming, the waiter, security guard and caretaker were particularly sweet.
