“Welcomed into the home”

The hosts Arsha and Daiju were very warm and hands-on. They extended invitations to us to join them, and gave local recommendations. The house itself is very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the patio chatting with them, learning a bit more about life in Alleppey!

It was neat and clean. Service was really nice. Great location . kind, generous and helpful host.

Arsha was a lovely welcoming host. She gave us very helpful advice about the buses and saw us off despite a very early departure! The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Good location - very convenient for a boat ride through the backwaters.

Keralan Homestay is an outstanding place to stay. The location is excellent, set in a peaceful and relaxing neighbourhood that immediately makes you feel at home. The food prepared by Arsha is delicious, and both she and her husband, Baiju, are incredibly warm and helpful hosts. They went above and beyond by arranging our shikara ride, planning a smooth two-day itinerary, and even organising our airport pickup and drop-off. Their passion for what they do truly shows in every detail. An exceptional stay with a genuinely lovely couple — highly recommended.

Everything. A really lovely homestay and such a warm Keralan welcome. Baiju and Arsha are very lovely and helpful hosts. They organised fantastic houseboat and shikkara trips for us. Arsha must be one of the best cooks in South India. Lovely food. They are also very interesting people to talk to and went out of their way to make our stay memorable and comfortable. It is also a very comfortable place to stay.

Very well located. Arsha was very welcoming and a great cook if you choose to have dinner there. Arsha also helped us plan a pirogue trip at sunrise on the Backwaters, book massages, and made arrangements for our trip to Cochin. We really enjoyed staying there.

The location is outstanding, right next to the main backwater jetties. Our host was exceptionally helpful with making all necessary arrangements for backwater cruises and other local transportation and very reasonable costs. She is extremely well connected locally and always willing to use her network to make our holiday enjoyable.

“Home away from home with the friendliest of people”

First and foremost, Arsha and Biju, the owners were the best. They had so much knowledge about the best things to do and see and arranged a schedule for us perfectly. They were also a lovely couple and it was so interesting to talk to them about their life and the culture of India. Rooms are basic but have what you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is very tasty and varied - Arsha also made us a last minute dinner when we came in from the station late which was lovely. All in all, a lovely homestay and we had a fabulous few days.

The home stay was in a good location, rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Hosts were friendly although were not thorough with our check in and did not provide any advice about the area/things to do etc.

The owner was an amazing guy, and really gave us the full alleppey experience! We’d been told that there was nothing to do in alleppey but he showed us there were tonnes! Beautiful walks, kayak, food and seeing the martial arts! Thanks for the great experience!

1) Excellent location for the backwaters, 5 minutes away! 2) The wifi was good enough to work online. 3) The balcony (with a courtyard view). 4) The quiet and clean room. We slept very well. 5) I admire the owners for having seen their old homestay destroyed by flooding and then having the courage to start all over again by building this new one.
