Kalappura Homestay was a great place to be based during our time in Alleppey. Jose was a great host and arranged boat trips for us whilst we were there - including on his own houseboat. Breakfast was great plus bonus mangoes!! Easy walking distance to Alleppey town.

“Wonderful and Authentic Homestay Experience”

I had a wonderful stay at Kalappura Homestay, one of the best homestays I had during my time in India. The place feels very welcoming and home. Jose and his family are incredibly kind, friendly, and always happy to help. Their hospitality made the stay truly special. The location is peaceful and ideal for resting, and the backwaters tour they offer is really beautiful and definitely worth doing. I highly recommend staying at Kalappura Homestay if you’re visiting the area. It’s a warm, authentic experience.

“Warm, kind, comfortable and I’d definitely stay again”

The property was in a great location and had everything needed for a relaxing and homely stay, there are waters and beers in the kitchen which can also be used and it’s close to lots of shops and about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute tuk tuk to the beach -Jose the host and his family are really warm and kind, Miss Teena and staff made my stay feel like I was home from home. Jose organised a beautiful backwater tour for me on my last day which was amazing ☀️

“Lovely homestay a short walk from town”

Lovely homestay with a lovely family and helpful and kind staff. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable for me. The breakfasts and dinner I had were so delicious and loads of food! There is a shared kitchen with a fridge you can store anything that needs to stay cold. I totally recommend the sunrise boat trip, I went twice! The neighbourhood is residential and an easy walk into town. Amazing value for money. Jose and Teena are available any time and are very helpful.

Very good housing with very kind and helpful staff. You can write in advance to get help with activities. They also provide food, water, cola and beer for a fee. The place is also very close to the ferry port where a lot of the cheap local ferries depart.

Host and his family are wonderful, helpful people. House is in a village like district, green and quiet. You can book backwater sightseeing with the host, various forms of it. And, he keeps beer in the kitchen fridge 😊

My stay was great, only for one night but Jose arranged the perfect backwaters tour for me. Amazing experience.

This homestay is a really lovely place to explore Alappuzha also with the backwaters. Our host organized us a beautiful morning trip with the boat into the backwaters. You can get some tasty kerala breakfast and also some special food for dinner at this Homestay.

Super nice family, genuine hospitality and also professionalism. Delicious meals, comfortable bed. A pleasant terrace in a lush garden to relax during the day. The sunrise boat trip through the nearby village canals that was offered at the homestay was also beautful.

Brilliant location - peaceful, but in walking distance of centre. Lovely vibe in this homestay - particularly the collective (and delicious) evening meal, and welcoming hosts. We were only there for a night but could have stayed longer.

The Kalappura Homestay was a really lovely, welcoming place to stay. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly staff who genuinely cared about making me feel comfortable and at home. The homestay is very well located, less than a ten-minute walk to town. My room was cosy and comfortable, with everything I needed: a comfy bed, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, and plenty of hot water for a relaxing shower. One of the nicest touches was the option to enjoy delicious, home-cooked Kerala food in the evening if I didn’t feel like going out – it really added to the homely atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Fantastic communication with all information provided via WhatsApp prior to arrival which was really useful including directions in local language to homestay which can be used by autorickshaw drivers. We booked deluxe double room which had really large double bed. Very clean and roomy bathroom, shower with hot water. Outside was a lovely shared covered terrace area which was fun watching and listening to the birds. Staff especially Teena were lovely and super helpful and made us a delicious breakfast. Beers/water in fridge in communal area if wanted, you can take as needed and added to your bill.

“Great value homestay!”

As other reviews have mentioned, this homestay is in a lovely peaceful area of town, a short walk from the main jetty. Everyone here is really friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and the room was comfortable. It was also the only place we stayed in Kerala where we could use a refrigerator, which was very welcome! The owner, Jose, also organises boat trips on the backwaters, and we booked a wonderful day trip on a canoe through him. Overall, this is undoubtedly the best value for money place I have stayed in India.
