Striking and modern, The Marquis of Granby is a former village pub that offers contemporary dining and chic rooms, all amid beautiful Kent countryside near Dover, Folkestone, Canterbury and Ashford. With views across the Alkham Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Marquis of Granby was transformed in 2008 to combine timeless rural England with boutique-style luxury. It is 'Highly Commended' by the AA. Space, light, art, fine furnishings and beautiful fabrics: 21st-century on the inside, but with a typically English view from the window. As well as the rolling green hills of Alkham Valley, 3 of the rooms offer a view of the village cricket pitch one of the smallest in England. The restaurant mixes the global with the local, with fresh, seasonal menus providing modern cuisine amid chic surroundings and a well-stocked bar.

“Would stay ah”
Hotel was nice and food very good, and had a good night's sleep. Just a little worn in places but clean. Wifi worked well. Nice change from run of the mill hotels and would happily stay there again.

“Comfortable gastropub in a pretty village”
We arrived in a heat wave and the room was cool (and had AC which we didn’t need but was good to see). The food in the restaurant was good. The team were welcoming and helpful. Location was convenient for our exploration of East Kent.

“Lovely boutique inn, great hosts lovely communication”
Fabulous hosts. Great communication. Beautiful with lovely decor touches. Really appreciated the brownie when we got there. Shower was amazing. Good quality, linen and towels.

Lovely staff with a great food menu. Delicious food both dinner & breakfast 😋 Really spacious room with Huge bath if you want to have a soak. Comfy bed and bed linen. Nice touches like bottled water, coffee machine and chocolate brownies in the room add to the customer experience 😍

“Exceptional restaurant and b&b in a beautiful spot”
It was a beautifully decorated village pub with fantastic food, comfy beds and an all-round lovely feel from start to finish. Couldn’t fault a single aspect of it. The staff were great, the room was beautiful, the food was excellent and it was really very good value for money. One night was not enough!
