The oldest parts of the inn date back to the early 1600s and records show that there has been an alehouse on this site since that time. The bar is filled with authentic original character and history, with pictures on the wall, original documentation and memorabilia complementing the charming open fire and original flagstones. For the past 5 centuries, the Blue Boar has been welcoming guests in to enjoy its warm and friendly ambience. Breakfast was excellent and the best we have had. The room was cosy, if we were to stay again, I would ask for a room overlooking the car park. Our room was above the kitchen.

The main surprise was the restaurant has great food and fine dining service. The menu incudes all of the usual choices + a few you would not expect such as a section of Indian cuisine which was very popular. Breakfast was very good. The wine list included a lot of european wines which is a bonus for us as we have found more and more being shipped half way around the world when we have the best wines here in europe.
