This Rodeway is an older building. "Vintage" The front doors have paint fails, so you wonder if you're getting a smelly carpet room with a lumpy mattress and old yard sale furniture crowded into a too small room. (which was my experience earlier at the very cheapest hotel on offer in Oakland). Imagine my delight: Inside was wooden floors! modern marble countertop sink! and matching light blond wood furnishings! A cheerful orange wall. Great bed covering. A medium sized fridge, vintage microwave (easy to operate! just spin the dial) Bathroom had also been redone. Shower was nice. The color scheme and scale of the furnishings was pleasing to eye. And I'm an artist. I grew to love the front door pain fails, it was artsy quirky and kinda cute. I had stayed both at the cheapest place in Oakland and an extended stay hotel in Alameda in the weeks prior. This one was better than both in my opinion. Great value for the money, simply and tastefully furnished, clean, and within walking distance of a safeway supermarket, target, chipotle, laundry, pharmacy, FedEx office, and many other restaurants.
