A clean and comfortable place for an overnight stop. Rooms and showers basic but good for the price. Gabriel a hugely helpful and charming host.

Gabby was a great host at El Ultimo Maya! He was quite welcoming and answered any questions I had about Akumal and things to do. The food in the restaurant was really good. I was in a room on the first floor and enjoyed sitting at the table and chairs in the lounge area outside the rooms. The whole area was decorated with many beautiful plants. The area the hotel was in is very quiet.

Great location. 10 minute walk across pedestrian Bridge to beach. In town (pueblo) with many local inexpensive restaurants and taquerias. Great restaurant beneath the hotel with good food . Lots of convenience stores closeby.Clean, no frills hotel. Has smart tv and wifi. Big shower. Great air conditioning. Great value for the money. Friendly staff. Great communication with the host. We would stay here again. Gabriel is a great manager and great guy. You can swim with the turtles at Akumal beach (over the bridge). If you prefer to take a taxi it is 100 pesos and ask them to drop you off across the bridge at Loh ha restaurant and walk through that restaurant to beach. (Food is good there too). Very beautiful beach. Quiet town (pueblo). We enjoyed our stay.

“A simple and comfortable slice of real Mexico”

The place is simple but cute - great value for money at this location. The beds are comfortable and rooms cool and spacious. We loved having our own fridge. The best thing about our stay was by far the manager Gabriel who is one of the best hosts we’ve ever met. He’s really sweet, helpful and interesting. Don’t miss a visit to their restaurant downstairs - we ate there every night. We loved staying in Akumal which is a lovely village without many tourists and felt like real Mexico.

The host, Gabi, went of of his way to make us comfortable and to help us. The location is great in the centre of Akumal.

Great location in the middle of the town on main street. Offers everything you need, tidy rooms beautiful rooms, beautifully and carefully renovated town house with patio, very friendly people, good food in the own restaurant. Simple, but great.

Ok for the price. Outside area nice. Room very basic as was bedding and pillows, but was cheap night. Could do with better curtains at the window and one at the door. Need to invest in more pillows and towels. Staff very friendly and helpful.

A nice family owned hotel with a beautiful patio to chill. The owners are very nice people and helped us with everything. Hospitality 10/10! The rooms are very simple, but comfortable. It was perfect for 2 nights. We had a lovely stay here.

Great location beautiful town well worth a visit. Only gripe we didn't have a kettle for morning coffee although maybe there was access to one downstairs but couldn't locate. Other than that super friendly staff great location to visit xel ha and the turtles are all over the beach if that's your thing. Cheap price but worth it. Thank you.

“Sweet surprise”

Such a lovely Italian hostess, Lilla. She gave us a warm welcome, took us to our room, and explained everything. We had a fan, ac and a window that actually opened.! Lilla services the rooms daily, with fresh towels. She provides a very affordable laundry service and there is a cute cafe downstairs.

“Great hosts”

Marco and Lele were fantastic hosts. So nice and welcoming and always up for giving advice and helping us navigate the local area. The breakfasts were simple but very good value for money. The cappuccinos were particularly great. The location is fantastic, just a 20 min walk from Akumal beach. The room was a bit basic, but had all you needed for a short stay beach holiday. The terrace is nice and shaded and the plants give it a great atmosphere.

Little gem in Akumal. Walking distance from the beach, family run, amazing breakfast/ dinners… such a warm hospitality, they will go out of their ways to make you feel comfortable and relaxed!

The photos from the rooms are fake. Our room was very ugly! It was the worst room we had all over 4 weeks in Yucatan!! Not even good for one night!! The tap in the bathroom was drop for drop. The towels are like in India. Maybe 30 years old. Also the shower.

Cozy, homely, spotless and in a central location in Akumal Pueblo. Come here if you really want to get away from the metropolis vibe and feel like a child again - take a walk after a homemade dinner prepared by the hotel owner herself and watch the neighbors chilling on their porches with their kids and dogs running around. Its an incredibly liberating and nostalgic experience.

“Amazing host, would absolutely recommend”

Marco was an exceptional host - he's happy to do anything to help. We only spent 2 days here but he got us in to swim with turtles with his friend Sergio (who is also fantastic), made us delicious Italian pasta, and helped us out with water and cutlery so that we could make our own meals to save a little money.
