Ken was a wonderful host, was a great escape from the bustling city. Sitting and listening to the rain and the river was so relaxing. Easy enough to get to from Tokyo City.

Perfectly located by the river and you can go swimming from there. Options for barbeque, but you need to prepare and bring your own food for that. kitchen can be used by hotel guests and has everything.

had an absolutely fantastic experience staying at this lovely house. It comfortably accommodates up to 10 people, making it perfect for larger groups or families. The house itself is stunning, with a beautiful living room and a kitchen that boasts both Western and Japanese-style rooms. The views of the mountains and river from the windows are simply breathtaking. The host, Ken, truly goes above and beyond to ensure his guests have a wonderful stay. He has poured his heart into renovating the entire house, and it shows in every detail. Ken provides exceptional service, offering great recommendations for nearby attractions such as spas and other itineraries to explore. Additionally, if the weather permits, guests can rent bikes from him to tour the area, adding an extra layer of convenience and adventure. One highlight of the stay is the nearby onsen, just a 15-minute walk away. It's a truly beautiful onsen, perfect for unwinding and enjoying a relaxing soak for half a day. Ken also prepares a delicious breakfast, adding to the overall experience and making guests feel truly pampered. Overall, I highly recommend staying at this house. The combination of Ken's hospitality, the stunning surroundings, and the comfortable accommodations make for an unforgettable experience.

Friendly welcome, clean and equipped with everything you might need. It had a really warm and friendly feel to it, a perfect place to cosy up to of an evening, winter, spring, summer or autumn. Ken was lovely and the Japanese breakfast was delicious, so peaceful as well from the balcony area looking over the valley

The area is stunning. There are challenging and spectacular hiking trails all around. The staff is super friendly, even to those who don't speak Japanese :) Delicious breakfasts made from organic vegetables grown in the garden.

The manager was so nice and friendly, and extremely helpful. My Japanese is just basic/intermediate so he helped a lot with filling out forms and suggested us places to go. The inside looked so beautiful and was very comfortable, it was a surprise to have a kotatsu in the room to use. The shared facilities were extremely clean and comfortable, also there were enough of them that you still feel like it’s not shared. Even though they are tatami rooms, the facilities are still quite modern and it is clear that they do their best to be eco friendly. The manager recommended Mube tea room which is about a 3-5 minute walk away and it was really beautiful and tasty. They have a lovely garden and small gallery too. There is a spa a walk away, with a restaurant, cafe and a free foot onsen outside. Overall a great experience.

“Exceptionally located and comfortable lodging in front of a beautiful river and mountains”

Otsu Nature Garden is exceptionally located with the river right in front of it. We were lucky that the river was empty for one day and so we were able to swim and enjoy the place to ourselves. The next day when the river was full of people for BBQ/swimming, it was also rather fun. The place is also very near a wonderful onsen and a beautiful tea house and short distance to the bus station. Our corner tatami room was beautiful and we can see the mountains and the river from it. The shared toilet and bathrooms are clean. They also sell very good craft beer.

The was the river-side where only people who stays there are allowed to go to.
