Located at the shore of Lake Akan, Hotel Gozensui offers Japanese-style rooms with amazing lake or mountain views. The hotel features public natural hot spring baths and free WiFi. Rooms come with tatami-mat (woven straw) flooring, futon bedding and an en suite bathroom. They are equipped with a TV, a refrigerator and an electric kettle. Guests at Gozensui Hotel can relax in the spacious indoor and open-air public bath, or have fun in the game corner. The hotel has a souvenir shop. Hotel Gozensui is just a 5-minute walk from folk village Ainu Kotan. It is a 20-minute walk from the Akanko Eco Museum Centre. No meals are served. Non-smoking rooms cannot be prepared.

The property overlooks Lake Akan, practically at the water’s edge. It’s very convenient for all activities around Akan Kotan: boating, walking, more serious hiking, seeing the cultural shows at the Ikor, visiting museums about the local culture - everything is within walking distance. There is a range of good, inexpensive restaurants very nearby, but the food at the hotel is also excellent. There are two meal packages (breakfast and half-board). Breakfast is a generous buffet, with a nice selection of Japanese and Western-style food. Plus free coffee/tea in the lobby throughout the day. The hotel’s onsen is a real bonus - it is very clean and has everything you would expect, and was never very busy. Self-service washers and dryers are available on-site; the hotel provides detergent. We had a sparkling clean, very comfortable, and sizeable room with a lovely view of the lake. There have been some comments about dated decor. Everything is maintained in excellent condition and I found this was an integral part of its charm. The staff provided excellent service, despite the barriers of language. They gave us a warm welcome and a fond good-bye. I highly recommend this hotel and we hope to return to stay there again.

Wonderful location. Across the road from a Seico Mart, restaurants and many souvenir shops. Short walk from Ainu Kotan village for even more eateries and souvenir shops. Very convenient because the Ainu theatre dances can finish late after dark so the short walk is appreciated. The boarding jetty for the Lake Akan cruise is also located behind the hotel. The parking is also located behind the hotel with rear access so very near to reach the lobby. The room was spacious and we had the lake view so Mt Oakan was visible on a clear day. The hotel also provides free rain jacket rental at the lobby for poor weather. The reception staff was extremely helpful. We had a partially clogged shower head and they fixed it practically immediately. There is free hot coffee at the lobby though it is just average. The reception staff also provided some free baked goods as a gift upon check out which was unexpected. Nice touch.

The location is excellent, close to the shops and cruising terminal. Friendly staff makes you feel at home. The building is outdated but it is clean and the price is very reasonable.

The building is rather desperately in need of refurbishment. If you can get passed the feeling of neglect it emanates, everything else is actually quite perfect.
