“Beautiful!!”

It’s absolutely gorgeous. A tranquil escape and quite close to ahangama! It was absolutely beautiful and the food is outstanding. We were on our honeymoon and we got kindly upgraded to the most incredible room. We cannot wait to return to Kurulu! The grounds are absolutely stunning and we wish we stayed longer.

What a wonderful way to start our holiday in Sri Lanka! The Kurulu Bay staff arranged a transfer from the airport, which worked out seamlessly. The driver, Indunil, pointed out points of interest along the way (rice plantations, birds, even stopped alongside a cinnamon tree and collected the leaves for us to smell), and shared lots of interesting cultural facts. Arriving at the place, we were warmly welcomed by Beatriz and Petar, and quickly became mesmerized by the beauty of its surroundings. What a magical place, where man-made structures coexist with nature in an almost symbiotic way. The room was perfect! Impecably clean, with the most amazing view. The food at the restaurant is also incredible, and so is the staff (we had dinner and breakfast). I lack the adjectives to describe the wonderful time I spent at Kurulu Bay. The only thing I regret is not having spent more time.

An amazing location on the lake designed with care around the natural landscape preserving trees and sitting alongside the historical house. The whole place is deigned and built with a brilliant eye for quality and the service received matched the high quality of the aesthetic, all staff and managers were exceptional and very accommodating. An exceptional breakfast and delicious food! The sister hotel The Fort Printers in Galle is also well worth a visit if even just for drink or dinner.

The Place is built in a piece of jungle, preserving every tree and building the rooms accordingly, which has lead to a beautiful relationship between guests and wildlife. From the morning friendly monkeys to the night magic fireflies that will guide you back to your room. However, this doesn’t mean that the gardens aren’t beautifully taken care of, full of perfectly trimmed flowers and plants, merging with a tasteful, minimalistic design in both construction and interior design. All this is accompanied by almost every angle by the Stunning views to the lake, just breathtaking. We were lucky to stay at a Tree House, which allowed us to have privacy, and very near to the second pool, which we had the luck to enjoy almost always to ourselves. The Service was impecable. Petar and Tjana, managing the hotel, were always looking forward to make you feel welcome and look after you, finding activities and recommendations as well as trying to make you enjoy the experience fully. Everyone at the hotel; gardeners, cooks, waiters and housekeeping were warming and kind. The Restaurant was our absolute favourite experience. The waiters were kind and “atentos” remembering every detail of what you liked the day before to make sure they could give you the best service the next day. We had the privilege to try almost every dish from the menu. Not one single plate was not delicious and beautifully set up (and we are Basque, we know good food when we have it!). We gave ourselves the small luxury of having a massage, the experience was excellent. We didn’t manage to try the Yoga clases although they had them morning and afternoon because the waves at the moment were perfect and we had to go surfing as much as we could, but the place were the yoga class was held had this amazing views to the lake and seamed very special. Overall, a dream to have found this place which we leave with a full heart (and stomach) and we truly hope we can visit very soon.

The setting of the hotel is amazing, bordering on a beautiful part of Koggala lake and with the jungle at its edges. The grounds teem with wildlife.. monkeys, mongeese pottering about amongst the plants and many different birds and butterflies. My treehouse room was peaceful, secluded and very clean. Both swimming pools were lovely and the food was exceptional. Above all though, the staff make this hotel special. The welcoming hotel managers, Tijana and Petar, were incredibly helpful and enthusiastic about all aspects of Sri Lankan life. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for such a relaxing stay.

Unique serene location, striking aesthetic. Exceptional and consistent service. I spent in total 9 nights here and felt a deep connection with the beautiful unspoilt nature. Petar and Tijana who manage this hotel are truly remarkable with deep knowledge and love for Sri Lankan culture. Amazing yoga overlooking the lake with wonderful Maia. The beach, bars and surfing are a short walk away.
