Overview
Posada Santa María la Real is a restored 17th-century monastery in Aguilar de Campoó, in northern Castilla-León. It offers free Wi-Fi and has an on-site museum and restaurant. All rooms at the Posada Santa María la Real have a private bathroom with hairdryer, as well as satellite TV. They all retain features such as a terra cotta floor and wooden beams, as well as antique furniture. The hotel’s buffet restaurant serves a variety of quality dishes from both traditional and modern cuisine. The Posada has its own gardens, including a picnic area with tables and chairs. There is also a museum which looks at the Romanesque history of the area and the monastery itself. The Posada is just 10 minutes’ walk from the main square of Aguilar de Campoó, which contains much medieval architecture. Aguilar de Campoó is 60 km from Burgos.

Wonderful location. It is a very interesting place. Staff were very friendly and competent. Our accommodation was in one of the outbuildings. It was a lovely room and warm. We had a good evening meal

Having to climb stairs to get to the beds is totally unacceptable for elderly or infirm guests. There was no warning on the website. The room had a threadbare carpet. The shower had mould and the shower itself was faulty. Generally very poor.

“Good value for money”
Easy access from motorway. It was below zero when we arrived but the room was cosy and warm and the additional blankets available in wardrobe made the nights sleep really cosy.

“Helpful staff, but only book a duplex if you are part mountain goat.”
The staff were very helpful when I explained my wife was unable to manage the very precarious stairs to the mezanine floor. They provided an alternate room with an additional bed on the lower floor.

“Comfortable, quirky room”
The place was very quirky. It was a very old historic building, which was very nice. The bed was up a narrow set of stairs, so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Restaurant was very nice.
