the room had everything we needed, especially also heating, since the weather was quite cold.

It was really a great stay with the owner and his wife so nice and helpful. We have also eaten a great diner at Maria’s and we discovered a great place and another way of life in Crete. You need absolutely to stay there during your trip in Crete.

plus that they switched on the heating, because it was very cold. Its nice interior, old style, beds comfortable, but extremely rude owner. in the hotel there was waiting for us I think the father of the owner? when we asked if we could meet for half an hour in the reception to discuss our travel plans, because it was cold outside, he started yell at us, that he wants to go home and he will not sit here for women to meet. the information in the rooms says reception is open since 8 am until 10 pm. he also said women should sit at home with their husbands. He wore no mask but then we get email that we violated covid rules asking for sit in a reception. to be clear: I understand hotel can refuse something, but not this extremely rude way. There were no even cups for water in the rooms. we were inform to go to the tavern if we want have a tea, where worked wife of this guy, and she closed the door in our faces! because first on the way we looked what food is in other tavern. I am traveling a lot and so extremely rude people I have never met.

“Pleasant stay, friendly staff”

For the price of one night, you get a good value. The room was clean and had all what I wanted for my one night stay. The most positive point is the staff, they are really friendly, eating at restaurant Maria (a few streets from the hotel) was a bliss. Maria made her special stew, which reminded me of my childhood.

As there were not many tourists the hotel used their nearby taverna for breakfast, which was excellent. Maria is a very good cook and we also went there for dinner in the evenings. We were made very welcome at both the hotel and taverna. The room clean and beds comfortable, and there was a secluded balcony.

The hotel is rustic but cosy and comfortable, in a good location to live an authentic experience of the Lassithi area, which was for me much more valuable than visiting the Touristic attraction of the Dikteon Andron. We had dinner and breakfast at the close restaurant of Maria (or Maria’s mother) Taverna Rea and it felt like spending a dinner at my grandmother’s home. Near the restaurant there is also an open air museum that explains how the windmill have been working through times. I highly recommend a detour from cretan beaches to visit

“Traditional Folk Hotel”

It was like going back in time. Very quaint and interesting decor. The owner who welcomed me was a very kind elderly gentleman.

The owners of the hotel have a taverna in the centre of the village. In the evening we had a good dinner but a little bit expensive for the Cretan standard. Anyway they were very kind. Unfortunatly the morning after we had breakfast there and we spent 10 euro for person for a cup of yogurt, a coffee and some bread with butter and packaged marmelade!!! Really a trap for tourists!

“amazing local place!”

Property was clean, easy to find and confortable beds. Owners were so kind, Maria take care of us like we were hers. She made lunch and dinner everyday, his husband even land us bikes so we could go around. If you are looking for authentic, local experience this is a place to go!!
