“Very enjoyable especially the Elephant Encounter which was amazing”
Excellent breakfast as were all meals. Staff very friendly. Accessibility very difficult on horrendous roads to get there. You do need a 4X4 and although we had a SUV it was difficult. Access to rooms was steep especially for the elderly as no vehicles could get to rooms. We had lovely accommodation with great views

Nice location but very abandoned and difficult to reach. Superb wildlife, giraffes round the lodge, panoramic view. Personalized (slightly) overprised game drive in Addo NP.

“Magical”
The location is truly exceptional. The landscape is gorgeous, and the huts are amazing. They perfectly define glamping, combining the feeling of being immersed in nature, waking up to the sound of birds, with fantastic comfort and amenities. The staff are passionate about the place and genuinely committed to ensuring everyone has the best possible experience. We did the sunset safari and were lucky enough to see many giraffes within minutes. We then took part in a morning elephant walk, which was a truly magical experience, made even more special by the staff’s passion for and love of their animals. We learned so much, and have memories for life.

“Lovely quiet rustic stay in a beautiful wilderness location”
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Olivia and Cindy in particular but all were delightful. Food was good. Nice traditional delicious dishes well cooked and presented. Tented cabins were comfy with wonderful outdoor shower. Great birding location. Central reception lounge and dining area is stunning. Staff went out of their way to celebrate my elderly mother’s birthday. Thank you very much.

WE WERE MISLEAD REGARDING THE DISTANCE TO Addo FROM THE LODGE AND HOW POOR THE ACCESS WAS. The advent of noisy young children spoilt the quiet and serenity. No children under 12 should be allowed. The food was food but for the price it was too plain with no frills. Snacks should be served together with the drinks at the pool and cushions and towels should be put out as quests should not have to chase after them

“An unforgettable, immersive safari experience with incredible staff and wildlife, best enjoyed if you’re happy to fully”
The stay was amazing. The rooms are rustic and comfortable with a real treehouse feel, which made it feel very close to nature. The staff were exceptional, a special mention to Olivia, who was brilliant throughout. We did both the on-site game drive and a full safari day into Addo National Park with Jordan, and both were outstanding. Jordan’s passion and knowledge really elevated the experience.

“Looks better online than in reality…”
We booked Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge based on the photos online, but unfortunately the real-life experience didn’t match expectations. It felt quite misleading compared to what is shown — overall the stay was medium at best.
