“An oasis of serenity”

As a family of 5 we stayed in Erondas House end of August and we valued its kind of secluded location in a small village. Yet, the house is close to attractions such as Melidoni Cave, Margarites - a must see village known of pottery and still in acceptable distance to Rhetymno as well as various beaches. Definitely though a car is a must have. The house itself is beautifully decorated 4 bedroom villa with one bedroom having a separate entrance, its own bathroom and kitchenette and not connected with the rest of the house. In the main part of the house there are 3 spacious bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. One extra bathroom is reachable from the pool area - this is also a room with a washing machine. Beds in all bathrooms are super-comfortable. I think they are Coco-Mat (a well known Greek brand producing premium sleeping products) so if you are suffering any backpains due to bad mattresses, it should not be an issue while in Erondas. The outside of the house is much better than on the photos due to tress that managed to grow to quite decent sizes. It is green so don't be pulled away looking at the Booking.com photos and not seeing much green. You will definitely find it there. The pool is great. We found enough space for 5 of us. It is 10 meters long. There are also two terraces where you can have breakfast looking at the surrounding olive trees. Last but not the least is the host that was very helpful in explaining the local attractions and discussing with us on many other things related to Crete, Greece and not only. Perfect villa! Perfect location, with fantastic views. With a car it’s a great base to explore Crete.

The hosts are fantastic. They give you the feeling that they really want to make your stay at their place an exceptional one. They are very friendly, visit regularly, provide very useful information and tips by email and are very open and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautifull villa (Erondas Villa II). The host met us despite our late arrival (plane was delayed) and was super welcoming and helpful. We found the villa very clean, and all the facilities listed are of a high standard. When we had a minor issue due to a power cut this was resolved immediately. The hosts are very communicative and email you daily with lots of tips and ideas for eating out and excursions. We can highly recommend the taverna at the bottom of the drive which has delicious local cuisine and is very well priced compared to other places on the coast. Overall, a perfect holiday home for a family or a couple who want to relax in a quiet rural location away from the busy tourist spots on the coast (10 minute drive away).

Walls dating to 1769, Villa 2 was a lovely property with 4 bedrooms (2 of which had twin beds and one was a studio), 3 bathrooms, BBQ, terrace, pool, equipped kitchen etc. Beautiful views of the surrounding olive trees and vines. About an hour from Heraklion airport, 30 mins from Rethymno, less from Bali, Panormos, Melidoni etc. Hospitable owner Hermes who kindly provided a little buffet of local specialities (including his mother’s baked pasta dish) at our arrival and lots of tips and information on what to visit etc. The butcher, fishmonger etc in the nearest town were quite good and we were able to enjoy a few BBQs in the villa during our stay. The oranges on the island were delicious and I miss the fresh orange juice we made every morning during our stay. Kampos Café a few metres downhill was sufficient for a couple of local dishes when we were too lazy to travel far, and in August it was often too hot for hikes or too much traveling. The nearby honey museum, limestone cave etc could be worth a visit if you wanted something to do.

We had a fabulous week in the family owned Villas Erondas. The house was (very spaciously) designed by the mother who is an architect, beautifully done. We felt very welcome by the brothers who advised us on things to do and where to go. Upon arrival dinner was ready and the beds were made. It all felt like a warm bath. Hanneke & Hans, Overveen
