“Stunning with room for perfection”

Wowee, the island is stunning. We wanted a stripped back relaxing place for the end of our stay in Brazil and this is exactly what we got. The location was beautiful, watching the wildlife and turtles from our balcony I could do for hours. The beach club was a nice addition and the food was all lovely with a broad range at good prices. The staff were all WONDERFUL so friendly and kind! The beach was stunning and the water very clean. We also did some of the hiking trails which the hotel has the maps for and they were wonderful! 🌴

We stayed at this hotel in Ilha Grande for two nights to celebrate our birthday. Unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the price of around €150 per night. First, when we arrived on the island, we discovered that we needed to take a boat to reach the hotel. At no point before our arrival were we informed that this boat transfer would cost **100 reais per person each way** (200 reais per person for the round trip). This is an important piece of information that should be clearly communicated before booking. Another issue was the **room configuration**. In the photos on Booking, the room clearly showed **two separate beds**. However, when we arrived, there was only **one large double bed**, and a small extra mattress pulled from under the bed where I had to sleep. This was very disappointing for a room at this price level. There were also **technical problems in the room**: most of the electrical outlets were not working. Only one outlet was usable, which made it difficult to charge our devices. We also had a strange experience at the **hotel restaurant**. Since it was the low season, we were the only two guests dining there. Despite that, two waiters stood extremely close to our table (about 50 cm away) during the entire meal, which felt quite uncomfortable and left us with no privacy. Very unprofessional. Additionally, several dishes were brought to our table **that we had never ordered**. After we had already started eating them, the staff told us it had been a mistake and that the dishes were meant for another table — even though we were the only guests in the restaurant. In the end, these dishes were still **charged to us**, which we found very unfair. Another inconvenience was the **limited boat schedule** to leave or return to the hotel.

It started off well with a nice room, great sea view, comfy bed and helpful staff when we came on and off the boat.

The views were incredible and the food was really good despite it being a bit of a limited menu. The staff were also eally friendly and helpful. I would recommend for a couple or small amily looking to have a bit of privacy. They also have Alexa set up in each room which makes it quite a modern set up and the TV was set up with all the smart tv apps which was great but not sure if we just got lucky.

Our stay at Hotel Papiro in Ilha Grande was a huge disappointment. The hotel is extremely expensive for the service provided, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and hassle-free experience. First, communication is terrible. The only way to reach the hotel is through WhatsApp, and they take their time to respond. We asked about their own boat transfer service, but after waiting for hours with no response, we ended up paying for a private transfer, which was much cheaper and more convenient than the hotel’s option. The room was just okay, but the furniture was visibly worn out. Housekeeping left our windows open, which, considering the hotel is in the middle of the forest, was a terrible idea—we came back to a room full of insects. A major issue is that the hotel doesn’t offer potable water, and they only inform you about this once you arrive. Of course, they overcharge for bottled water. The tap and shower water was yellow and clearly not clean. After brushing our teeth with it, we developed cold sores, which is completely unacceptable. Another major inconvenience was the lack of hot water in our room. We reported it to reception, but it took two days for them to fix it—ironically, on the day we were leaving. Even then, the hot water ran out in the middle of a shower. The restaurant was also a disaster. The food is overpriced for what they serve, and the service is extremely poor. They forgot to place our main dish order but still charged us for it. To top it all off, one night we returned to the hotel only to find they were hosting a loud party with extremely rude guests, making it impossible to relax. Another downside: the staff doesn’t speak English, making communication difficult for international guests. Overall, this was a terrible experience—unresponsive staff, poor service, overpriced everything, and basic amenities like clean water and hot showers weren’t even guaranteed. Definitely not worth the money.

The room and facilities were stunning. The view is absolutely amazing with basically your own private beach - paradise on Earth!
