The hostel is at a 2 minutes walk from Zabljak bus station and it is a very good base for hiking. The host speak English well and it is also very knowledgable about hiking trails in the nearby (safety, difficulty, etc.) and can give good recommendations. The kitchen is well equipped and it is also quite large so it is a good common area to hang out with other guests. There are sockets near the bed and also a table to put your smartphone while it is charging.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this hostel! From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the owner genuinely care about their guests' comfort and happiness. This hostel was perfect as a base for hiking and activities. The owners were so helpful, and went above and beyond. They allowed me to hold my bags there whilst I did some overnight hikes and shower on my return.

I liked the interior, it was very warm and felt like a log cabin. I stayed in a room by myself as there were no other guests at the time. Bathroom was clean and shower worked great. The kitchen is a great space in a separate room. Cooking facilities are good. Very minimalist place and close to the supermarket and bus stop.

“Loved my stay at Highlander, would stay again.”

Highlander felt like a home away from home. The room was small but had heating which was much appreciated. The kitchen space had a great communal area to meet other hikers and plan out trips. The owner helped us with hiking advice and transport to the start of the trails. After receiving a nasty/threatening email from the other hostel in town when my plans changed, I was so happy I ended up staying here instead 😊

The owner was very kind and gave lots of information about possible activities (hikes) in the neighbourhood. He offers (paid) transport to starting points if necessary. The hostel itself is very cosy, clean and well equipped, only a 5 minute walk from the bus station and 20 minutes from the lake by foot. His mother is the sweetest, always greeting you and trying her best to communicate. I definitely recommend this hostel!
