The guest farm is a real gem - I have not stayed anywhere so serenly beautiful in the Karoo, in my 20 years of criss-crossing the SA. The house we stayed in was beautifully renovated and utterly comfortable in an understated, homely way. The farm, with its views stretching from horizon to horizon offers so many activities, we could have stayed much much longer - so sorry we didn't! The hosts are super welcoming and I really enjoyed our chats.

I loved my stay. One impromptu night turned into two. The many stars, the wide open, the peace in abundance. Leaving was the only downside. The Lark Cottage is sweet, a transformed old farm school house with just the right balance of comfort and shabby chic. Margot and Chris were warm and hospitable. I would love to go back.

Loved the remoteness of the house, but within access of major roads. The house itself was charming with all the antique-style decor & furnishings. The outdoor shower & bath tub must be awesome in summer.

The peaceful surroundings and openness. Margot welcomed us at Karoo Secret. This is the place to be if you want to unwind. We booked for 2 nights, and I am glad that we did. One night would not be enough. Just make sure you take with what you need. We enjoyed a cup of tea with Margot, and she told us interesting stories of Karoo Secret. Margot and Chris are excellent hosts. This is home far from home. We ordered the braaipack for one evening. The house we stayed in is big enough for a family of eight, and it is pet friendly. There were puzzles, dominos, and rummy cub, books if you wanted to keep yourself busy. This is life, and we enjoyed it. We saw Kudus and monkeys when we were there. We also experienced the nicest sundown. There was also a Karoozie to cool off. Thanks to Margot and Chris for giving us the opportunity to experience Karoo life.

The most exquisite views were enhanced by the beautiful sunrise and sunset over the mountains. It was beautifully secluded from everything however we didn’t miss out on any amenities such as clean water and electricity. Chris and Margot are the most hospitable and caring hosts who concerned themselves greatly with our comfort and we were lucky enough to be welcomed into their own home. Their relationship with Storm, their resident Kudu, is the epitome of a loving animal and human connection, and is truly an experience to behold. This guest house is fantastic for any type of stay, whether family and friends or a significant other. We were truly blessed to have been able to stay here, and will definitely keep this place in mind the next time we are on this route.

Never ordered breakfast. Great farm stayover. Very hospitable hosts. Also assisted me plug a flat tyre I have picked up elsewhere during the day. Great braai pack and roosterbrood. Very comfortable accommodation. Referred me to shops in Graaff-Reinet which were excellent.

The Karoo welcomed me with an afternoon thunderstorm and pouring rain echoing the warmth of our host Morgot....only thing missing the day I left was the title deed....for obvious reasons...😄
