Overview
Penybryn Cottages offer 2 tastefully renovated self-catering cottages in Cwmbach, a small village near Aberdare. The cottages offer free Wi-Fi and free private parking. Both cottages are fully equipped with large bedrooms, cooking facilities and a seating area. Guests can enjoy a private outdoor area with an enclosed garden, picnic area and children's play-park. Both cottages now have their own brand new private hot tubs for an additional fee. Minature Shetland ponies and sheep are kept at the property at certain times of year. Food hampers can be supplied on request at an additional cost, and the Penybryn Cottages offers seasonal home-grown produce when it is available, such as pork and lamb dishes. Penybryn also offers a barn for parties or functions. The 3 star cottages are set in a quiet location and are situated about 30 minutes from both Swansea and Cardiff. Brecon Beacons National Park and Gethin Mountain Bike Park can be reached in around 10 minutes by car.

“Excellent location, wonderful views, extremely comfortable: a home-from-home in the valleys.”
From the moment we arrived, we knew we were going to enjoy our stay at Penybryn Cottages. There is a super-convenient off-road car park which is next to the cottage, and a very friendly welcome. The property was spotlessly clean, and there was everything we needed - and more - to enjoy our stay. Bedrooms are very comfortable. The bathroom has an excellent and large shower. Cooking was easy in the open-plan kitchen-diner-lounge space, with a good range of pots, plates, pans, etc. Thanks to the good weather, we were able to eat every meal outside in the adjacent private yard, which was lovely. The only noise up here was birdsong! Fantastic views of the valley, too. We all slept well, and emerged every day refreshed and ready to enjoy the local region. Bike Park Wales is not far away, and the Dare Valley Park is just a ten-minute drive away too, so this is a perfect cottage for off-road cycling enthusiasts to stay at. Walkers, too. The scenery is achingly beautiful. We wouldn't hesitate for a second to stay here again: in our five days here, I feel we only scratched the surface of what Cwmbach, Aberdare and the surrounding area has to offer.

“Cute cottage near Brecon Beacons”
Great location, about a 25 minutes drive to the 4 waterfalls trail which was the reason we had visited. The hot tub was a great addition, expensive in comparison to how much the accommodation is but worth it after a long hike. Cottage itself had everything that you need and a good size. Would recommend if you're visiting Brecon Beacons.

“Snug, nostalgic & out of the way, while being near everything you need.”
Charming Cottage well appointed, snug & nostalgic yet everything needed for the perfect getaway and base to explore an under appreciated part of the UK, Host Emma was exceptional with communication and making sure I knew everything relevant about the property and local ammenties. would love to come back if work and the availability of the cottage match up.

“Superb stay. Great hosts. Fab location. Friendly chickens.”
The cottage smashed our expectations. Emma the host couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The chickens were so friendly and hilarious, stopping by to say hello (and see if there were any food scraps of course). Ask about the lamb burgers. You won't regret it. Location was great to explore the Brecon Beacons. Fantastic stay. We loved our time there.

“We wouldn’t return but don’t have massive regrets either.”
The location was good for hiking and right next to a Tesco but very limited to nice places to eat in the area. The host was nice and helpful in regards to recommendations.
