Lovely house lots of character, large kitchen facilities to use and multiple lounges to use with comfy sofas as well as a outside courtyard with plenty of seating. Rooms was lovely and big and very comfortable beds and so quiet at night, continental breakfast included aswell. Shop and pub takeaways only 2-5 min walk. Host was lovely and friendly and i will definitely be staying here again.

“Ross was such a wonderful host, food in the fridge, amazing rooms and backyard.”
I loved the old world feel about this property- it felt like I was stepping onto a set of Downton abbey or Bridgerton! The beds were so soft and comfortable and the old world kitchen was just beautiful. Outside area was pristine and very beautiful, perfect for eating outside. Would definitely recommend and would also rebook.

The place is good, looks a bit like a library or a museum, the room was big, had everything we needed. A bed is big and comfortable for two people. Quiet at night, easy to find a parking spot on a street. The owner left a key to our apartment for us, as we have arrived after 20:00. Be aware that it might be problematic to find some dinner options after 21:00.

“Historic stay in the green heart of Ireland”
I loved my stay at Preston House and would definitely stay again. Not your run of the mill accommodation, a step back in time in a good way. The bed was huge and very comfortable, a large bathroom with a great shower. I liked being able to use the kitchen for a cup of tea. I also felt very comfortable in the sitting room reading a book. The staff and owner were lovely, and very helpful.

“Great stay and dog friendly too”
We have just had a wonderful two night stay at Preston house which we decided to do at the last minute. The host Ross, was very obliging and accommodating and was full of local knowledgeable about bars and restaurants, which were a stones trow away, as well as places to visit around Abbeyleix. The house itself is very well kept and oozes 19th century charm. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious. There were two spacious reception rooms, dining rooms and a large kitchen at our disposal to use along with an outdoor area and gardens. Thank you to Ross and his staff. We will definitely be visiting again!

“A great place to relax and get away from busy life”
The house is very warm and welcoming. When you arrive you feel at home right away. The kitchen is a great place to meet fellow guests and have a chat. The bedrooms are spacious and bright and spotless. A great plus for us was that we could bring our dog and she felt at home as well greeting everyone as if it were her own place. There is a lovely garden space at the back with plenty of seats and a shed to protect you from the elements. There are great walks nearby, long or short whatever suits your needs. It is only a short stroll to pubs and some eateries. Last but not least the host Ross is very friendly and always ready to help. Abbeyleix seems to have a great community spirit and the locals enjoy a chat. We stayed an extra day and were sorry to leave. But we will be back.

We had such a wonderful stay at preston house, the building, location, staff are all wonderful. The house has a wonderful old classic and grand feel and is steeped in history. We enjoyed it so much we have decided to have our wedding there. Highly recommend.

“Only left and ready to book again!”
Fantastic period house in the centre of a wonderful village. Full of charm, the house lended itself so well to our group booking: fabulous entertaining spaces and relaxing areas, fully stocked kitchen, open fires and beautiful lighting. It was dreamy. The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds are first class. Ross, the owner, is a gentleman and reccomended Bramley and Morriseys and both exceeded our expectations!
