Set on the shores of Lake Notoro, Kagariya boasts a public hot-spring bath and seafood restaurant. A 15-minute drive from JR Abashiri Station, it offers rooms with free broadband internet. All rooms at Kagariya Ryokan include a flat-screen TV and Western toilet, and some feature an area with tatami (woven-straw) flooring. The public hot-spring bath offers lake views; a smaller hot-spring bath can be reserved for private use, for an additional fee. A 15-minute drive brings guests to the Abashiri Prison Museum and Museum of Northern Peoples; during the winter, the dock for drift ice sightseeing ships is also 15 minutes away. Memanbetsu Airport is a 25-minute drive. Shokujidorkoro Misaki serves multi-course meals for breakfast and dinner, centring on seafood. Polished wood and warm lighting give a pleasantly homely feel to the space. Free coffee is available each morning.

“Great ryokan in nature”
Kagariya is a beautiful traditional ryokan with stunning scenery. What blew me away was the food. It was top quality. I also reserved a private bath and the wooden tub was cool. Also the staff is very kind, they offered to drive me to the airport after check-out. Thank you so much!

Everything! Fabulous staff who were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We used the free shuttle service which was great as we didn't have a car. The Japanese style room was lovely and a good size. The dinner and breakfast were a delight! Local produce with a lovely presentation, very tasty and the local fish was delicious.
