Overview
Abashiri Kanko Hotel features indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths and a sauna with panoramic views of Lake Abashiri. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby and massage can be requested for an extra cost. Guests can choose to stay in Japanese or Western-style rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and feature a flat-screen TV, a fridge and an en suite bathroom. Japanese Yukata robes and slippers are provided for all guests. Kanko Hotel Abashiri is a 5-minute drive from Abashiri Prison Museum and a 15-minute drive from Hokkaido Museum of Northern Peoples. Memambetsu Airport is a 20-minute drive away. Local gifts can be purchased at the souvenir shop. A coin-launderette is on-site and luggage storage is provided at the front desk.

An absolute paradise. The hot spring (onsen) was incredibly relaxing, especially the outdoor bath (rotenburo) with its stunning views. The breakfast was a masterpiece of fresh, local flavors, and equally delicious. Our room was immaculate, featuring beautiful tatami mats and cozy futons. “The accommodation was satisfactory, but uninspiring.”
There was a buffet breakfast, but we were out of season and I think the choices were quite limited, the same for the evenings. Parking was easy. Our room had a good view and everything worked ok.

1. Not easy to access parking lot, and there are steps at entrance door hard for luggage transportation. 2. Not easy to access the laundry facility which inside public male or female bath area. 3. No service personnel at front counter after 10:00pm. 4. Very weak wifi reception.

Spacious room and a nice location near the lake. You can get a bit more of a Japanese experience here with the Japanese-style tatami rooms and onsen. The table tennis tables were also popular with us and others.
