“lovely period house, great hosts”

beautiful cared for historic house. facilities are excellent you sleep on beautiful rooms with period decor. breakfast was excellent. our hosts were charming and very helpful. recommended a restaurant for dinner which was close by- we were tired after a long day and the food good. Carlos gave us excellent recommendations for sights to see and travel directions down the duoro valley to porto which were very helpful as this is our first time in portugal.

“Tranquility”

The house, the room, the village, the breakfast, hospitality of Carlos and his lovely wife. The room was very big, yet warm. I the village is so quiet, I had a walk before the sunset, there was an incredible light and the church looks stunning in the dark blue light. I had some drinks in the only cafe of the village. The local people I met there were so nice and welcoming and the port wine was very good.

A beautiful house with an incredible view over the region. The owner and host is absolutely amazing, super welcoming and goes above and beyond to make your stay as good as possible. He has a lot of knowledge of the region and can gice you lots of tips on what to do.

The house was full of charm and history and our nice host Carlos was so proud of introducing us to it. Having breakfast in the kitchen from the 18th century was a wonderful and different experience. Our room was spacious and nicely furnished. In this little village of Abacas we were far from other tourists. Carlos and Paola, thanks for an unforgettible experience.

Lovely home and more importantly, lovely people. The rooms are cozy and comfy, and very clean. Carlos and Paula are amazing hosts and genuine people.

Everything from the booking, communication, check-in, location and the incredible house were excellent. Well taken care of and surrounded with loving care. A delicious breakfast was served in the splendid kitchen, complete with homegrown fruits and jams. The landlord and lady were very helpful and gave excellent day trip tips for the surrounding area.

We were received by Paula who gave us first a brief introduction to the history of the house. The next day morning Carlos gave us plenty of tips regarding visits to touristic places around. The breakfast was given on a big family dining table. There were a couple of other guests too! We could talk and exchange information. The highlight of our stay was the dinner one evening. We all sat together, exchanged our wines and food, and had lively talk with Paula and Carols on different subjects. It was as if talking with some good old friends. :-) We also could go down to the village and walk to vineyards one morning before the breakfast.

“Peaceful experience in the Duoro”

Carlos was a super host who allowed un in to the his family home for a couple of nights. The home goes back several generations in his family and you can sense the history of their time in this beautiful old house. The common areas we frequented were clean and tidy, the breakfast was more than adequate with home made jams and cakes with the standard meat and cheese and fruit. Carlos was very kind to arrange our day of touring around the region taking in a couple of winery's and booking appointments ahead for us and with the drive taking in a nice lunch spot and some beautiful scenic drives. We really couldn't have asked for more.

Wonderful old village house close to Douro river valley. Carlos, the owner, is cool guy, he showed us the house, gave a few great trip tips and cooked apple pie. And he owns 2 really big dogs.

It's a charming old home with fascinating history, a unique place to experience Portuguese country side. Carlos and Paula are lovely hosts, and make excellent cakes and jams :) We warmly recommend the place!

A wonderful 200-year-old house in the center of the village, surrounded by vineyards. The hostess was very nice and represented the colorful history of the house. The room was huge. It was wonderful to have breakfast in the old traditional kitchen. A few local wines were also sold there.
