“A vacation during our vacation”

In short, our stay was perfect; the premises and facilities, the surrounding country side Japanquiet nature, and hostess created a one of a kind experience for us. Our time at the school felt like a mini vacation during our Japan trip and we would 100% recommend it to anyone seeking a unique experience off the beaten path. We visited the nearby Kito market on foot, took a bus to an Onsen and enjoyed the facilities themselves, such as a local ('Gumon') bath and sat under the heated blanketed table ('Kotatsu') while eating local oranges ('Mikan'). The accomodation is really easy to reach by bus; the stop is in front of the school. Only a 2-3 hour trip from nearby Osaka/Kyoto. Stay for a couple of days to maximise your enjoyment! :) Thank you Kaori for everything; you are such a pleasent person and made our stay memmorable :)

“A very enjoyable stay!”

We stayed one night, and could happily have stayed for several more. The host was so friendly, and so helpful. Lovely outdoor space, and a well provisioned kitchen. The Japanese hot tubs stayed hot overnight, so we could use them again the next day. Beautiful surrounding countryside, and the history of the school house is fascinating. Lots of space, and we were able to barbecue outside.

The experience is beyond what I have imagine. The place is so clean and comfy, I'm amazed how the place is kept so immaculate despite how huge it is. Kaori san the owner is lovely, she show us around the whole place and also help us get the fire going for the traditional bath which turn out to be the best private onsen bath ever! It is just perfect, couldn't ask for more. I also enjoy Sei-chan the people loving black cat too.

So much stuff you can do there and explore. Bring your own food though. Restaurants/Supermarkets aren't that close - which is good, exactly what we wanted.

We have been visiting Japan for 3 weeks while staying at a wide variety of hotels, ryokan and airBnB, but this experience was by far the most amazing one. It is hard to describe the feeling of staying at this place filled with history, lost in the middle of the mountain. The owner was extra nice, she was the one to sit outside for 1 hour to boil the water of the bath for us to enjoy, and in the morning she offered us some very tasty juice ! Wandering in the school at night is an incredible experience, looking at the old photos of the children and the microscopes and the blackboards… The ping-pong table, huge manga library and barbecue will keep you up until late in the night ! So many things to do while enjoying the feeling of the place ! If you want to make a barbecue though, please make sure to bring you own firelighter or it might prove challenging ! The futon were confortable, and the kotetsu was so nice ! It's hard to encounter a location that have one so if you want the full Japanese experience go for it ! Cold drinks were available for a fee which was very pleasant. We honestly wish we could have stayed more, and if we go back to Japan, we definitely will go the extra mile to come back here ! Also, promise, no ghosts ! Just a black cat roaming around x) Thanks again to the owner for everything, I hope we can meet again :)
