“Authentic non-tousitic trip to the desert with wild camping”
I came to visit Zagora and I enjoyed staying the stay in the Riad very much! It is a nice, family-friendly, clean and safe place to relax and enjoy! Abdesalam made everything possible to make feel welcome, he walked me through the city, prepared a delicious welcome tea with biscuits, nuts and fruits and an amazing breakfast! He then proposed a great authentic trip with a jeep in the desert, which I was extremely happy to join. This was the kind of experience that you would like to come back to with all your family and friends to show what the life in the desert is really like. Abdesalam, thanks to his nomad origins, was able to bring me through a different variety of landscapes in the desert: sand dunes, rocky plateaus and acacias forests. We could observe ostrichs, gazelles and birds. We didn't cross a tourist for two days. Abdesalam and his team prepared delicious typical amazigh food on wood fire at lunch, dinner and breakfast and have been incredibly kind and helpful all throughout the expedition. The moments on the dunes, watching the sunset and sunsrise, and the night under the stars and in the silent of the desert has been one of the best of my life. Abdesalam has an amazing knowledge of the region and can tailor trips according to all kind of personal interests for people who really want to discover what the nomad life looks like, in a non touristic way! I cannot but definitely recommend this experience to all the true curious adventure seekers. Best to contact him in advance, through the message service of booking. He can be several days out in the desert, so best to take the time to properly organize upfront.

Riad de Reve is a small riad where you can find yourselves in a true family atmosphere. Abdelsalam is a fantastic host who will let you and your family feel at home. If you want a true authentic experience this place will offer it all. We highly reccommend this riad but the best it offers is its amazing excursion trought the desert. With a 4x4 you spend the night in the sahara far away from other too touristic place. You feel the nomadic way of living and can see a sky full of stars. Abdesalam will make you a authentic meal on a wooden fire and provide the true ‘’pain au sable’’. Best is to contact him trough whatsapp in front of arriving so he can arrange this trip in advance. We can truly not recommend this place and its experience enough.

“Couldn't recommend enough!”
We were very warmly welcomed and received at this comfortable, simple and clean Riad, by wonderful Abdeslam and Sandrine. We were so glad that we chose to go with Abdeslam and his wonderful du Reve team, from Zagora for a 2 night trip into the Sahara Desert. Being a nomad, Abdeslam has a genuine love and deep connection to the nomad way of life and this land. He was able to take us 'wild' camping to places that were remote and isolated, away from the 'cheap', mass tourist excursions, and impart some of his respect and love of this majestic land. He and his crew were always sweet, respectful, caring and sensitive to our needs. The food was wonderfully cooked fresh each day, including dishes and bread made on the fire each night. Although a tent was available to sleep in, we preferred to sleep up on the dunes in a bed prepared for us under the stars. On the first day, we encountered a group of wild desert ostriches that seemed to know Abdeslam and came within a metre of us. On our return day, we stopped at an ancient pottery cooperative to see artisans working in a traditional way to produce local style pottery. Abdeslam seems to offer flexible trips, tailored to the needs and wishes of each group he takes. (A party of 8 people were heading off with him on an 10 day trip on camels!) It is also worth mentioning that Abdeslam cares for and actively and consciously supports a number of families in his employment and teaches them the skills of being guides and cooks. In this way, his business is highly ethical. We were so glad we chose to see the desert in this deeply respectful way. I would highly recommend to anyone who prefers a more intimate experience with this landscape and with these wonderful, gracious and kind people!

“A very special experience at Riad de Reve”
It was a small traditional riad. Convenient location in Zagora. Abdulsalem was an exceptional host. Superb food, nothing too much trouble for Abdulsalem. Abdulsalem organised for us a private, unique 24 hour desert experience (not a fixed camo) . An unforgettable experience.

“The Man In Blue will Guide You ... to Bread Baked in Hot Sand and a Night Sky so Grand!”
Like most people, we came to Zagora for the desert, but Abdselam adds a whole extra level of enjoyment, interest and hospitality that makes Riad de Reve well worth our recommendation. The hotel itself is basic, but clean and well located in the centre near to restaurants and shops - all of which are very local and not touristy. The welcome was very warm, with a fabulous tea including cakes, nuts and fruit - a meal in itself! In fact, throughout our stay, our host would present us with surprise extra treats completely free of charge. He is a great reconteur and would often sit with us - his perspective as someone who came from a nomadic background but has lived in the West is unique and fascinating! His desert trips are legendary and well worth the extra to have a true non-touristic experience. If you think it's not worth 180 euros per person to have your own true wild camping experience, with no more than 5 people total, plus your own guide, driver, big comfortable 4WD, fabulous tagine cooked on a camp fire and bread baked in hot sand, then that's up to you. You can join a cheaper, big noisey group in a permanent camp with quad biking etc ... that's fine for some, but you DO have a choice! Top Tip: At night use your camera to do long exposures (with a tripod or balance it on a rock or a bag) and get great shots of the Milky Way. We also saw a meteorite really low and close with sparks coming off it ... spectacular!

“Very welcoming”
We had a very warm welcome from Abdelslam, the owner. We we’re welcomed with tea and nice company. The rooms were spacious, clean and had all the facilities we need. The riad is very close to the city center, 2 minute walk. The breakfast was very extensive with much choice, fresh orange juice, eggs, different kinds of bread and much more. The owner can provide Sahara and/or camel tours as well since he is a Nomad. Thank you so much Abdelslam for everything.

“Very nice accommodation coloured by a negative experience in Zagora”
Very hospitable with welcome snacks and drinks. The hotel has 2 rooms on the ground floor which suited us fine. The owner and his long-term resident were very friendly and helpful.

During our roadtrip through Marocco as a group of 3 young women we stopped for one night in Zagora. The Riad is located quiet in the center and we got an authentic impression of the city as there were almost no tourists. The host was really nice to us and available for any kind of request. We highly recommend the breakfast which was freshly cooked in the morning and it was a LOT of stuff! One of the best breakfasts we had in Marocco. We can just recommend this Riad to everyone who wants to stay in Zagora for a fair price.

“Fantastic Place to Stay”
Very comfortable Riad, a few blocks off of the main road through Zagora. The owner picked me up at the bus station and cooked a fabulous welcome dinner. The room was very comfortable with good A/C, hot water, and Wifi. The very kind and generous owner lent me his bicycle and I spent a fantastic day riding from village to village and exploring the small paths beneath the palm trees of the Draa Valley. It was a great experience. Thank you Abdeslam for everything. I had a great time.

“LA MEJOR NOCHE DE MI VIDA EN EL DESIERTO BAJO LAS ESTRRLLAS”
I cannot say anything else than fantastic. The owner is a very thoughtful person, understandable a great host and a tremendously good cook. His tagines are in this month trip the best so far. Also, he does services to the desert so being in good hands makes the different. He has made a private trip to the desert, must say a bit more expensive than others but totally worth it. he did everything to make the experience to be a huge to be remembered the rest of our life. If you are tired of betting prices and amigo amigo… here there is an oasis of peace and good feelings. You will feel at home here

“Spectacular”
The house keeper offered us an incredible opportunity to go to the autentic desert, on a unique expedition souronded by dunes with no one near us. We spent the night there, sleeping outdors with confortable mattress, cooking tajin in the traditional way and looking to the stars. It wasn't like the typical tourist tour, indeed, it was singular and peaceful.
