“Local experience, something different and definitely memorable!”
This is a rare chance to stay with local Japanese people. Komay and Yuki are Japanese hosts who welcome visitors with hospitality and kindness and try their best to make you comfortable and if you have an opportunity to get to know them, it will be very meaningful. It may be better to plan what you want to experience and do when in the yoshinoyama and area and check if they are free to drive you or pick you up, as the guesthouse is 20 mins by car from yoshino station and it may be difficult to get local taxis and there are no local buses to get around. I was able to hike mt yoshino over 3 days as a solo traveller thanks to Komay & Yuki who made time to drive me to and from yoshino station and on one night, to a local onsen.

Our hosts put an incredible amount of effort into preparing a lovingly arranged and truly delicious, personalized breakfast. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and kindness. We felt extremely comfortable and truly enjoyed our stay. Their dog was absolutely adorable and added to the charm of our visit. We are sincerely grateful for such a thoughtful and heartwarming experience.

“Homely stay with wonderful hosts”
The hosts are an extremely kind and helpful couple who will make sure that you feel very welcome and that your stay is comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and I was very grateful for them picking me up from a local train station in the late evening. The room and house was a traditional-style Japanese home with beautiful decor, yet plenty of modern amenities. Bonus was the cute shiba dog and jazz piano :) Thanks for the stay.

“A rustic retreat with wonderful hosts”
Komay-san, an accomplished jazz musician, the host was incredibly hospitable and friendly and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. His wife Yuki was only too happy to take us sightseeing and to fetch us back from where we were having lunch. Yuki made us delicious breakfast on the 2 days we stayed at their B&B whilst Komay-san served the food. Their unassuming and friendly demeanor made our stay that much better.

“A genuine delight!”
Staying here was absolutely wonderful. These folks are incredibly generous, warm, interesting people who are fun to be around and who are happy to share their authentic Japanese country home with others. Yuki and KoMay believe in organic, locally produced food and Yuki is an excellent cook. 'Breakfast' turned out to be a genuinely superb three course meal with home made hot soup, a gorgeous plate of all sorts of delicious treats including tempura herbs (from the garden), home made bread and little bean sweet treats. KoMay is working on his organic garden and Yuki turns it into a feast! KoMay is a professional jazz pianist. He is quite brilliant at improvisation and is happy to entertain with music as well as conversation. We felt incredibly privileged to stay with such genuine and interesting people.

“An excellent Japanese stay, with charming hosts”
The property is away from town and very quiet and peaceful, allowing for a good night's rest. The included breakfast was home cooked and piping hot - vegetable soup, potato omelette, salad, fresh fruit, yoghurt, and home baked bread, butter and jam, coffee or tea. There is hot water, coffee, tea, and biscuity snacks available downstairs 24/7. There are just 2 rooms, both upstairs, in traditional Japanese style - tatami and futon. The hosts are both charming, and extremely helpful, picking up from the nearest station and helping me changing my train ticket. I will stay there again if I come back to Yoshino.
