“Easy going, relaxing stay with gorgeous garden”
Jo is super sweet, extremely helpful and even gave us a lift to the train station. He has done an amazing job with the house. The highlight is definitely the garden you can gaze into from the café. I can also highly recommend borrowing bikes, which makes cruising through Yanagawa super easy.

The garden of the hostel is stunning, the coffee made by the owner is delicious, and I was so happy and didn't want to leave. The room is spacious, clean and airy. It is very close to the tourist attractions and only takes 3 minutes to walk. The host has a very special temperament, like a person with a story. We restored the room when we left. Living in such an excellent place, we also want to be excellent guests

“The best stay I had in Japan”
This is a really beautiful place. The room we stayed in was the largest we've had in all of Japan. Joe was a great host, he even set up glasses and ice buckets for my partner and I to sit in the dining room to look out to the garden, which we did every night we were there. Probably the best private garden in Japan. A fantastic stay.

The garden was a highlight of our trip to Japan and provided a great place for reflection after a month in Japan. The afternoon tea in the cafe was also very memorable. Jo was a gracious and helpful host.

“Great place to stay”
Joe's warmth and hospitality were exceptional. He gave us local recommendations for the hot springs and food in the area, which were both really good. He made us a delicious breakfast each day, which was very hearty, and we enjoyed the conversations with him throughout our stay. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the room spacious. The quality of linen gave us both a great night's sleep.

“Excellent short stay”
Jo and his sister were great hosts. Communicative before I arrived and provided me with some light snacks and fresh fruit when I got in after cycling all day. Bedroom and living space were large and very comfortable. Breakfast was good with an excellent view of their garden which looked beautiful in the autumn colours. I was only staying the night but it’s walking distance to convenience stores, local tourist attractions like the gondolas and shrines.

“Wonderfull”
Jo was the perfect host. Picked us up from the station, even drove us to another station, 20 mins away, to get our JR train on departure. He was very attentive & super helpful i.e. helping planning our canal boat ride, suggesting a local restaurant, translating etc.
