I had a truly wonderful stay at Yakaduro Safari Camp and can wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly, warm, attentive, and genuinely caring — even taking my dietary restrictions into account very spontaneously, which I appreciated so much. During my stay, I joined a beautiful bush walk and had the unique experience of enjoying tea on the rocks, which felt very special and authentic. Both experiences, as well as my half-day safari in Yala National Park the next morning, were guided by Damika. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I was lucky enough to see so many beautiful animals during the safari — truly an unforgettable experience. What I loved most was how authentic and personal everything felt. “Great spot in the middle of nature”

Great little eco resort in the heart of Yala. Staff were very friendly and accomodating, and the property is gorgeous. Rooms are comfortable and clean. We had dinner and breakfast at the property and there was so much delicious food!

The property was set in a lovely rural setting where you felt part of nature and part of the safari park. The staff were all so attentive and welcoming - they were very organised with trips with little things serving coffee and small snacks before safari and proving drinks and water for journeys. Having wet towels for you when you arrived back.

“Maximum convenience and friendliness”

Magical friendly staff, really putting effort into bringing maximum convenience. Very good food. Nice safari. Mosquito protection measures really work. Very eco friendly, they really respect the nature. Nice walking tour near the camp. If you're into nature and appreciate hospitality and real experiences, book this safari camp. If you are looking for some maximum luxury like an all inclusive resport, this might not be the place for you. There's no warm water (and you don't need it) and the pool is not very big (but it's for good reasons, and you'll still like it). Accept it, enjoy the maximum hospitality and friendliness, have a nice talk with these amazing staff members and you'll love this place. If you book a (leopard focused) safari, consider one or the other: 1. More guarantee to see a leopard and accept traffic jams (we didn't like this); 2. Ask the driver to take less crowded routes, have better experiences but less guarantee to see a leopard (what we did after 15 minutes). We recommend option 2!

“Great experience. Back to basics”

The nature

We booked primarily for the safari which did not let us down - a first class guide who helped us see four leopards and lots of elephants! The accommodation itself is beautiful, recently built and done to a high standard. The staff were all wonderful and we felt very well looked after

Lovely to be at one with nature in this beautiful place. Lovely spaced out bungalows with thatched roofs. Beautifully furnished and very comfy beds. Every evening they came to spray the room with holistic remedies to make mosquitoes leave us alone - it worked! Great food, really helpful and knowledgeable staff.

“Highly recommend!”

Staff were very attentive and friendly, the property was very clean and just the vibes you want for a safari visit. They offer a free bush walk which was great as we were lucky enough to see elephants and we ended it with food on the rock at sunset. The food was very yummy too, best chicken curry in Sri Lanka! They also had a couple of great traditional dance performances in the evening.

Very special place. The staff are amazing, friendly, and very helpful—especially Nishantha, who made our stay even better. They organize great activities, including a live dance show, and the BBQ night was truly special and unforgettable. The whole experience feels unique, with many activities to enjoy. Just be aware that this is a camp, not a hotel—so you will see insects and frogs (they inform you in advance). There is also no air conditioning in the rooms, so it can be a bit hot, but for us it was okay. One thing we didn’t like was the situation with the manager. Before the safari, he gave us two bottles of water without asking us or telling us they cost extra. At checkout, he said they cost $4 but that he would “make it free” for us. Honestly, we didn’t like this approach—we never asked for the water, and it felt like he was trying to present it as a favor or discount, which wasn’t really the case. It would have been better to either not include it at all, or clearly ask us in advance and explain the price. Overall, despite this, the experience was very good. Highly recommended. Thank you all!

“Staff attentive, food great, safari fantastic!”

Very large spacious room, surrounded by nature. We even had birds with chicks nesting in our ceiling lampshade which was so cute. Our private pool was clean and the perfect spot to chill out after a long day of animal-spotting on safari. We saw leopards, a sloth bear, elephants, crocs - was brilliant!

“Amazing stay and safari”

Amazing room, was much better in person than the photos suggest. Nice pool, great staff and food was really good. Safari was excellent and exceeded expectations
