“Over rated Disney land “camping””

We stayed at Mahoora Eco Yala expecting a remote wilderness camping experience, but unfortunately it felt more like a carefully constructed tourist attraction than genuine eco-camping. It’s also important to note that you don’t actually stay at Mahoora itself, but at Big Camp, where the communal facilities are located. The setting there is red dirt and dusty, quite different from the grassy Mahoora areas pictured in marketing materials, which are no longer used. The marketing creates the impression that you’re deep in nature, however the camp is surrounded by houses and roads, and at times it felt no more remote than camping in someone’s backyard. If you’re looking for an authentic wilderness experience, this may not meet your expectations. The biggest issue, however, was the food pricing. The camp justifies its prices by claiming its remote location, but given the surroundings this was difficult to understand. Food quality was disappointing, with simple meals charged at premium prices. For example, a sandwich cost around USD $15 and consisted of stale bread with very little filling. Guests are effectively captive once they arrive, as there are no nearby restaurants or local food options within easy reach, meaning you have little choice but to purchase meals from the camp. Our food bill ended up costing more than our two nights of accommodation, which was a frustrating surprise and significantly impacted the overall value of the stay. While the staff were friendly and the tents themselves were comfortable, the combination of the misleading sense of remoteness and the excessive food prices left us feeling disappointed. Potential guests should budget carefully and be aware that meal costs can quickly exceed the cost of accommodation.

Swimming pool with monkeys in the trees... Comfy beds... Attentive staff. Dining experience and the safari was perfect. They went out of their way to try and give us the best safari experience with longer than the expected time out driving.

Very friendly staff and we had an incredible experience on safari with an amazing guide and driver. Tents are basic but comfortable and have comfort.

1. It is a very raw jungle stay experience 2. The candlelight dinner experience was very nice 3. Kids enjoyed cooking marshmallows on bonfire and eating from the stick 4. The family tent size was very spacious 5. The staff are very helping and courteous . They nicely briefed us about all facilities, timings and activities. They were quick to pick the calls when we needed anything 6. The safari experience is good

Not a single thing. Stay away from this place.

The location was beautiful in the jungle. We arrived late and unfortunately it was raining so the night walking safari was cancelled. The tents were comfortable and spacious. Dinner in the camp was delicious and the picnic breakfast for the safari the next day was very tasty.

Amazing staff allowed me to use their washing machine. , great wildlife around the property. Loved the fact we had an outdoor bathroom (fully private). Room was very nice. Dinner was good too.

Awesome stay and food

* Quite cosy for a tent; * Very atmospheric and nicely planned out; * The dinner was very delicious; * The staff seemed very genuine and caring * Lovely night walk with animal spotting Had a miscomunication/misinformation ahead of arrival about the safari prices, which was quite frustrating but staff did their best to compensate, and the safari driver and guide were indeed 10/10.

Unique experience “glamping” near the jungle. The tent accomodation was excellent. We were impressed by the eco-friendly commitment shown by the company.

The location very close to Yala National Park is great and the evening dinner was very nice! The safari guides were very good!!

“An experience with stars and nature”

First time we tried glamping and we weren’t disappointed. The tent was lovely and spacious with all the mod cons The location was beautiful and after dinner the walk back to the tent was spectacular as all we could see in the sky was stars

Great experience overall. We were lucky to book an elite tent so it was very spacious and had a bathroom ensuite. We enjoyed the night time jungle noise but other people found it a bit hard to sleep. We had a very knowledgeable guide on our safaris - thank you MJ ! The evening walk was also very lovely and informative. Food was very generous portions. Lunch was much more tasty than dinner. Staff were all very friendly.
