I liked the location of the hotel, I feel like it is built around the inclusive idea as to not leave the hotel. Facilities were great, Booking got us an upgrade which I didn't expected and was quite a surprise, we got the premium room, treatment and we'd appreciated very much with my wife.

The large rooms, the staff, the beach with the coco palms, entertainment, the food, the many, many, many swimming pools. It is a reallly great property and you have access to so many places, pools and restaurants. If you like swimming, you have to go to this place. And I liked the hydro therapy in the spa, which we got free for 1 hour.

There was so much to do and we booked only 2 days we needed to stay longer to enjoy all they had to offer. However, everything we did get to experience was great.

My stay at Barceló was exceptional. I read the comments before going, and I can say that they exceeded my expectations. -Beach: It was great. It had white sand and not a lot of waves. It is excellent if you go with children or want to chill out. The palm trees are plentiful and protect you from the sun. The beach has a part filled with rocks where a lot of fish swim by, so it is perfect for snorkelling. -Room: Very comfortable, the room's temperature was great, and the cleaning of the room was always on point. I appreciate the detail of the bath rope and shoes. -Food: Everything I ate at the buffet was perfect, and the Spanish night there was also very good. The food was exquisite, and the service in Santa Fe was excellent. I had the opportunity to visit Capri and Santa Fe restaurants, which were terrific. -Activities: The all-inclusive package offers a lot. The non-motorized water sports are included in the package. My husband and I did some kayaking and paddle boarding; it was great. The night shows were well-produced and entertaining; they were very professional. -Installations: I enjoyed the Jaguar Disco and walking at Plaza Mexicana and the mall. All installations are very well-designed and maintained. -Service: I think this one is significant. My plane arrived early, and even though the check-in was not until 3:30 pm I could check in at noon. I left my bags at the reception and started enjoying the hotel. Similarly, as my plane departed very late, I did the check-out at 11:00 am, but they gave me a pass until 4:30 pm to keep accessing all the installations, food and drinks. I appreciate the extra showers and changing room. They were spotless and easy to use, and they included towels. I think this is excellent, as you can enjoy the beach and pool after checking out.

We did have a great time at the Barselo Colonial. The property is enormous and you have to walk a lot but for us it was positive as my kids love that they have so many activities. The property was clean and well maintained. The resort was full but we did not feel it (only at the breakfast). The beach was very long and pretty big. There are a lot of additional activities that you have to pay money to do. Food was good, however, we were not impressed with the ala carte restaurants.

If you’re traveling first time and with young kids beware of this place. We had so many bad experiences at the property. They have a service where they provide a baby sitter. We booked the baby sitter days in advance as we had some dinner reservations. The sitter didn’t arrive. We called the hotel and they had no record of our sitter booking. WE had to produce proofs on our end to convince them we indeed did book a sitter. All this took an hour and we were 1.5 hours late for our dinner reservations. No apologies nothing from their end. We should’ve have known what we’re getting into. As soon as we booked, I had some questions and called them 100 times and they never answered the call. When we arrived they moved us to different resort with no prior notification. This new resort was far away from all the things we had planned. After talking to booking.com the resort manager called us and gave us some options that didn’t work for us that time which made him very angry and he was rude to us. We didn’t want to deal with him again and further spoil our trip. The resort hardly cleaned our room 3 times out of the 7 nights we stayed there and that too after calling them multiple times. We had a baby and at least needed the trash to be cleaned daily as it contained dirty diapers but they cleaned it only after multiple request. We didn’t have a comforter / blanket for first 3 nights of our stay and was provided one only after several requests. Then they messed up our sitter booking which caused a delay for our dinner reservations. This delay also messed up our other plans that night and next day. This whole trip was totally opposite of relaxation we were expecting to get. Instead we spent our time calling front desk and booking.com to get basic necessities. However, we raised our concerns with booking.com and they were able to help us. I will continue to book through booking.com.
